5.0 out of 5 stars It really is an EXPERIENCE!!!!
For anyone who has experience the ministry of Yolanda Adams then you probably can attest to everything that I am about to say! If you have not, then I suggest that you just continue reading. For anyone who has experience the ministry of Yolanda Adams then you probably can attest to everything that I am about to say! If you have not, then I suggest that you just continue reading. First of all, I appreciate the production of this cd! For a live project, the sound and the music is tight! The background singers are singing and have a nice blend. Often times with a live project, you tend to get either too much music, too much of the soloist, too much of the background singers and not enough of something...you don't get that with this project. It's a nice balance of all three!

The songs you may have heard before but not quite like this! You may think you shouldn't get it because they are remixes or you've heard them before..don't make that mistake! Yolanda presents these songs in such a way that it doesn't take away from the original version but it's been refreshened for enjoyment, for encouragement and for enlightment. Yolanda opens with the duet with Gerald Levert that is a nice arrangement with strings! The Live Experience kicks off with a bang with the rockin' "Already Alright" that nicely flows into "Continual Praise". Yolanda squashes these two songs nicely! You may not have time to notice because you'll be too busy bobbing along with her. Then comes the wonderful tender ballads of "Fragile Heart" and "What About the Children". Yolanda ever so sweetly sings both of these until "....the children" actually tugs at your heart and causes you to wanna help any child that you see out of anything. She goes back and pulls up the latin flavored "Ye of Little Faith". This was a nice surprise and flows nicely with the Experience! Yolanda adequately delivers this song and you'll wind up doing the salsa or the mambo in your living room! Then she does her mega-hit "Open My Heart" with a live twist! She sings this song with such an intensity that you have no other choice but to respond somehow. Whether meditation on the Words, tears, vocal expression...somehow this song draws a response from you. As she leaves that song, she nicely flows into "That Name" where God's presence just manifested itself and then she moves into "In the Midst of It All" where God's manifested presence just heightens! It this song where Yolanda let's her hair down and let us know exactly who she's singing for, why she's singing for him and exactly how much she loves him!!!! As she said, she loves her mother and she has a wonderful husband but when she needs a Saviour, it's all about Jesus! That's what this cd is about...Jesus! She then moves to her two closing numbers...the rousing "Yeah". The band is just playing out of this world and she has you clapping and dancing on your feet before she just melts your heart with her uplifting, inspirational closure of the live performance of "I Believe I Can Fly". Now I do appreciate the talents of Gerald Levert; however, I prefer the live version. Yolanda ministers this as only she can and it really lifts your heart to know that you can do whatever it is you set your mind too!

My friend, grab the Experience! It really is an Experience that you need to have! It will touch your emotions and cause you to touch God! It's also just plain good music! I was at the concert and I remember the anointing being presence very strongly...I remember the folks crying, waving their hands, rejoicing and standing in awe as God used Yolanda! So grab the Experience, pop it in your cd and Experience another level of the God given ministry of Yolanda Adams!

5.0 out of 5 stars IT BLOWS YOU AWAY, March 21, 2001
By A Customer

Yolanda Adams: The Experience Positive: IT BLOWS YOU AWAY right out of the box. The first 2 live tracks are so tight, you might want to scream because your ears just aren't accustomed to such high doses of quality music. The old school jams "What About the Children" and "Ye of Little Faith" are awesome. Even the spanish verse in the latter song is off the hook. The Band and Background singers are just amazing. I was asking myself if it could really be as good as my ears were telling me. Negative: If there are any, it would be that Yolanda started to get a little hoarse on a few tracks.

Overall, the CD is her best one yet. Yes, even better than Mountain High... Valley Low. Rating out of 10 stars: 9.5

5.0 out of 5 stars The Experience..... (not just a remix), June 14, 2001

Being a long time Yolanda fan and knowing the talents and growth this woman has gone through, I'll admit, I was a little dismayed that THE EXPERIENCE was only a rendition of songs already featured on Mountains High, Valley Low. Still supportive of Yolanda, I went out and bought the album. I must say, I am elated at the fact that I bought it. The CD is far from just a remix. Yolanda adds her own flavor to this live CD. The Experience will make you feel like you are at a Yolanda's concert. For those of you who have been to a Yolanda's concert, you can certainly attest to this. For those of you who have never been, this is certainly the closest thing to witnessing Yolanda live in concert. The only difference is when you are at a concert and surrounded by all the anointment, there is no telling what the blessings of Yolanda will do to you. She sings, prays and will even stop to give you a few sermons. My advise to you is to go to Yolanda's website and look for concerts within commuting distance to your town and attend one of them. You will certainly get your money's worth! ... ... ...

4.0 out of 5 stars The experience - What more can I say, March 3, 2003
This review is from: Experience (Audio CD)
This album is amazing, the diversity of the music ranging from latin to pure soul has you swaying in your armchair. The message in each of the songs really comes over and touches every part of your being.

It is awesome how God is using this lady, her vocal cords are ripe as she belts out each track. A favourite track of mine is 'open my heart' and I have recommended it to my friends who are going through wilderness experiences. This song is a wilderness experience song it is so inspiring and comforting, It speaks of challenges and asks God for help in facing them.

Best of all because it is a live recording you get a different flavour that is not on the original recordings, it is as though you are there participating in an act of worship talking to God in your own special way. The mixture of songs and sounds, each one penetrating deep into the soul, healing the hurts and redirecting your paths. This is one that you can put on repeat and play all the tracks over and over again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Experience, June 30, 2001

The Experience is a very nice cd. I like the way Yolanda remixes her songs from Mountain high Valley Low. She gives a great concert. "I believe I Can Fly" is very nice she takes an R&B song and gives it a gospel flair. I love Yolanda's music overall because she does not water down her message. When you live for God and belive in his holy word (the bible), you can't half step you must take whole steps. When you take those whole steps some people toes may get stepped on but it is for the good of mankind because her music and other gospel artist's music is to aid in helping save souls. Please buy this CD and all other gospel CD's let's show the world that not only can secular music sell well, but gospel music overall can also sell well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unequivocally Her Best, July 17, 2004

This little concert on a CD is spectacular in every concept, and on every track. I'm not saying that because she recorded in DC, nor because of the gifted musicians, background singers, or choir that was in attendance. I say this because she took an already successful album and did the one thing that some artists can't do, MAKE A VIABLE LIVE ALBUM out of it. Not only that, but I really wasn't a fan of her music prior to this. Praises be to God for the annointing and talent he bestowed on her and the staff.

For many years, "The Battle is the Lord's" was her signature piece. After hearing this LIVE album, all of the tracks were of that caliber. "In the Midst of It All" is my personal favorite though, as some songs transcend lyrics. You can definitely hear a spirit in this song. "Ye of Little Faith" is also fantastic.

Rather than write any more review for you to read, if you haven't bought this CD, BUY IT TODAY! You will be blessed.

P.S., Kudos to the EASTERN HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR (DC) for their participation in this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, June 5, 2003
This review is from: Experience (Audio CD)
I really did enjoy this CD which is filled with songs from her prior CDs with Elektra. There is also a surprise song on there that wasn't released on her other CDs and it's really good. It has a mexican style beat to it.

I liked this CD because the musicians and Yolanda changed up the tempo of the songs which provided a new flavor, and she of course, blew down the house with her anointed, strong voice.

Yolanda does so well with live tapings that I can't wait for her to come out with another one.

Although you could tell at times throughout the concert that she was losing her voice a little bit, it's still worth buying the CD. You will not be disappointed.

Yolanda - keep doing what you're doing and don't do anything to compromise with the world. Stay connected to God and he will take you even higher. My prayers are with you always.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent., June 29, 2003

Finally, one of Gospel Music's greatest performers does a live album that does her justice! Like her "Live In Washington" album, Yolanda's back in Washington again, not doing original material but mostly songs from her 1999 smash "Mountain High... Valley Low". That album of all studio tracks was hot but left her die hard fans still wanting to hear her live. So here it is.
The album starts off in the studio with a remake of R. Kelly's hit "I Believe I Can Fly", produced by Shep Crawford [Tamia, Kelly Price], in which she duets with Gerald Levert. Now I must admit that the song is a little on the played out side but I did like what they added to it. Then the live show starts out with the high energy "Already Alright" and continues into "Continual Praise". It slows down into the sweet, "Fragile Heart", which she dedicated to a friend of hers that passed on. Then there's the beautiful live version of "What About The Children?", much better than the original studio version. Next there's the new track of the album the salsa tinged "Ye Of Little Faith", this song is hot, especially when Yolanda starts singing it in Spanish. Then the track that everyone went out and bought this album for "Open My Heart", the song that Yolanda has captivated audiences with for the past year, finally live! But I must admit that I liked the way she sung it the last time she was on It's Showtime At The Apollo better. After that is the Richard Smallwood penned "That Name" and the rousing "In The Midst Of It All". To end the album is Yolanda's high energy first single from "Mountain High...", "Yeah" and the live version of "I Believe I Can Fly".
This mix of classic Yolanda songs old and new make this album indeed, an experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars In The Midst Of It All, February 25, 2002

Most people believe that contemporary gospel singers do not have the same anointing as tranditional gospel artist such as Shirley Caesar. Yolanda Adams demostrates that is simply not true. That she is carryig the same message as Albertina Walker on "I'm Still Here." This album is one of the most powerful live albums that can minister to my soul. If you are looking for a word from the Lord get a copy of this album it is here. And "In The Midst Of It All," there it will be.
