Surprise encounter with Moltmann...,

This was the first work of Moltmann's that I had read, though I had heard much of him throughout my seminary studies. I was surprised and pleased to find this work so accessible and so personal. Moltmann shares his own story and journey with God to faith. He goes on to describe his understanding of anxiety and hope in relation to God. Personally, I found this book incredibly encouraging of my own walk with God; and it has led me to reading more of Moltmann's works. This is one of the best (if not the best) theological work I've read in the last year and I would recommend it to anyone, but especially to those who are struggling with uncertainty and need to come in contact with God's hope anew.

i know i tend to write short reviews because i don't think about it so much as a review of the book, but a recommendation of the book. and i highly recommend this book to all thinking christians who wish to explore and grow in their faith journey. prof. moltmann is one of the greatest theological minds of our time. this book is written for the general public, which means that his valuable insights are easy to understand. it is a brief read, but i am sure it is a book that many will want to re-read again and again. if your church is looking for a new book to do a book study on, than "experiences of God" is a great choice, that will no doubt spark lots of lively conversation.

Moltmann's views are quite formative in the subsequent work of many theologians. Anyone interested in the progression of Christian theology in the last century should at least have a basic knowledge of this book.
