Book Description

November 8, 1997
While the Kabbalah has long been a central pillar of Western magic, many beginners are intimidated by its complexity. Experiencing the Kabbalah is a beginner's guide to the subject, which emphasizes learning the concepts through personal hands-on experience. The simple exercises and ritual drama engage your personal creativity and imagination while forming the basis of a personal daily practice for increasing your own psychic abilities.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

Kabbalah, a spiritual system grounded in symmetry and logic, is rarely addressed in a format that is suitable for beginners. Experiencing the Kabbalah goes against the trend, however, by presenting both historical and practical information on the Kabbalah that focuses on experiencing this ancient spiritual system rather than just reading about it. Chic and Sandra Tabatha Cicero accomplish this through a sort of ritual drama that they call "Walking the Tree of Life." It characterizes each Sephiroth (different aspects of the divine) of the Kabbalah as a person, from the stable Malkuth to the enigmatic Kether, granting readers a fuller understanding of the Sephiroth and the paths between them. Experiencing the Kabbalah is an innovative guide for beginners as well as informative reading for adept practitioners.

3.0 out of 5 stars Come on, it's a good basic introduction!, August 7, 2000
This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
I think this book does not get the credit it deserves! The Ciceros have put together a basic, warm and enchanting introduction to the basics of the tree of life in this book. This is a definite book for the person who wishes to find out basic information about what the tree of life and the western tradition is. In my honest opinion, it would be wrong to suggest a lay person begin with Gareth Knight's 2 volumes or Crowley's 777, both are incredible volumes, but come on, a beginner would just loose themselves in those deep texts (those are for down the road!). The Ciceros have obviously aimed at the layman here and to be honest, they present a simple and fine opportunity for someone to "experience the start of the great work". The text is simple, straight forward and in a type of language that the unprofessed can understand. If you are already on the path and know much of the qabalah, then pass this one up and get the their Golden Dawn Journal part 2, but cut them some slack and realize that this is a great book for the newcomer, and at $9, it's a steal! Peace profound 8)

5.0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT BOOK FOR BEGINNERS, February 24, 1999

This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
This book is full of very basic information, which is very difficult for a beginner to find. If you are an experienced and knowledgeable Kabbalist, you may not find this book as helpful as I did. I searched EVERYWHERE to find a book that would give me very basic, beginners guidelines so that I can begin to apply this fascinating subject to my life and I found most of the books to be confusing and difficult to read. This book has helped me immensely and I would recommend it to anyone who is new to Kabballah and interested in applying the principles to their life.

1.0 out of 5 stars The content is about as thin as the paper it's printed on, September 28, 2001

This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
I have studied the Kabbalah for many years, and have read countless works of literature about this Divine path. Chic and Tabatha Cicero have written the most shamefully poor book that I have ever had the misfortune to read on the subject. This book is insultingly patronizing and very badly written, even by Llewellyn's standards. Their insights are so greatly lacking that I am forced to wonder just how competent the authors are on the subject. Moreover, their "Tree Walk" creation has all the depth and brilliance of a Saturday morning cartoon. Kabbalah is a Spiritual Path of Divine Enlightenment. This book not only shows little respect for this Sacred Path, it shows absolutely no respect for the reader who is being dealt with as if they were a 7 year old.
