Come on, it's a good basic introduction!,
This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
I think this book does not get the credit it deserves! The Ciceros have put together a basic, warm and enchanting introduction to the basics of the tree of life in this book. This is a definite book for the person who wishes to find out basic information about what the tree of life and the western tradition is. In my honest opinion, it would be wrong to suggest a lay person begin with Gareth Knight's 2 volumes or Crowley's 777, both are incredible volumes, but come on, a beginner would just loose themselves in those deep texts (those are for down the road!). The Ciceros have obviously aimed at the layman here and to be honest, they present a simple and fine opportunity for someone to "experience the start of the great work". The text is simple, straight forward and in a type of language that the unprofessed can understand. If you are already on the path and know much of the qabalah, then pass this one up and get the their Golden Dawn Journal part 2, but cut them some slack and realize that this is a great book for the newcomer, and at $9, it's a steal! Peace profound 8)

EXCELLENT BOOK FOR BEGINNERS,
By DONNACOEN@AOL.COM (Hartford, Connecticut) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
This book is full of very basic information, which is very difficult for a beginner to find. If you are an experienced and knowledgeable Kabbalist, you may not find this book as helpful as I did. I searched EVERYWHERE to find a book that would give me very basic, beginners guidelines so that I can begin to apply this fascinating subject to my life and I found most of the books to be confusing and difficult to read. This book has helped me immensely and I would recommend it to anyone who is new to Kabballah and interested in applying the principles to their life.

The content is about as thin as the paper it's printed on,

I have studied the Kabbalah for many years, and have read countless works of literature about this Divine path. Chic and Tabatha Cicero have written the most shamefully poor book that I have ever had the misfortune to read on the subject. This book is insultingly patronizing and very badly written, even by Llewellyn's standards. Their insights are so greatly lacking that I am forced to wonder just how competent the authors are on the subject. Moreover, their "Tree Walk" creation has all the depth and brilliance of a Saturday morning cartoon. Kabbalah is a Spiritual Path of Divine Enlightenment. This book not only shows little respect for this Sacred Path, it shows absolutely no respect for the reader who is being dealt with as if they were a 7 year old.

I didn't even like the subject of Kabbalah until I saw an actual performance of the Tree Walk and bought this book. It made the Kabbalah come to LIFE for me. Now I'm hooked.

I agree with several of the other reviewers. THis isn't a great in-depth tome - nor does it claim to be. Rather, it is very well written and easy to understand introduction to the Kabbalah - particularly the Golden Dawn approaches. It is full of good information to get the new student started, and provides great dialouge and example ritual and meditations that, if followed, will give the new student a pretty darn good foundation to jump off from. It's a good first or second book on Kabbalah. Give it a shot.

A Wonderful Introduction to Kabbalah,

This is a carefully crafted book that introduces some deep concepts in a clear and upbeat manner. You can tell that the Ciceros know the subject very well, but their writing is not condescending or confusing. I feel fortunate to have found this book and have read it numerous times because it started me on the path to spiritual goals. I highly recommend this book if you're starting to learn about the Tree of Life.

The book is a confused intoduction to the Kabbalah,

This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
Chic Cicero has produced a book that is simply a regurgitation of material that can easily be found in the works of Isreal Regardie. The basic premise of the book is that the Kabbalah can best be grasped as a physical reality by walking through the tree. The book lacks any focus on what the Tree of Life is in spiritual terms and instead is a compilation of correspondences from Crowley's 777. From a pragmatic piont of view the exercise of "Walking the Tree" simply cannot be done in a normal sized room.

Definitely Not their best Work,
By A Customer
This review is from: Experiencing the Kabbalah: A Simple Guide to Spiritual Wholeness (Paperback)
Unfortunately not one of the Cicero's best works, it lacks depth and is put together in a slip shod fashion. There are many better books that cover the topic of the Cabal, author's such as Garth Knight, William Gray and Regardie's book called "The Tree of Life" do a much better job of explaining the Cabal. I hope the author's of this book from now on concentrate on quality and not mass production of books for the sake of putting a book out there.
