If you're interested in understanding Spiritism, this and all the other books from Allan Kardek are the answer. He studied the spirits "phenomenum" for about five years or more, before start writing about it. The fact that the translation is not "wonderful", doesn't detract from the book itself.

If you are interested in A. Kardecs books relating to Spiritism, read Spirits & Mediums books by Anna Blackwell also New Version by Allan Kardec Edu. Soc of Phil, Pa. excellent !
