Every graphic design and most photography students will benefit from reading about Alex Rodchencko. He truly pioneered these fields with his unique view of the world.
Created fantastic designs up to the 1920's but unfortunately he was squelched by Stalin's regime for the rest of his life. The book chronicles his life in the first person through his letters home to his wife (who was also a terrific graphic designer with much acclaim in her own right) and family.

This Book isn't very well known and it's not hard to see why. Experiments for the Future is very short, running at about 440 pgs when you don't include the Diaries, Essays, Letters and Other Writings sequences.
The Book also feels very low-key, as the focus is more on the period between 1911 and 1956 than anything else, which can leave the Book lacking at several intervals. Experiments for the Future is basically a glorified Aleksandr Rodchenko Book. |
