1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of money, January 27, 2005
This review is from: The Expert Guide to PeopleSoft Security (Paperback)
I'm disappointed with this book. PeopleSoft PeopleBooks and Red Papers provide better explanation. The author, for the most part, did not add any value. I wasted $20 on this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but very good., September 18, 2010

This review is from: The Expert Guide to PeopleSoft Security (Paperback)
As a PeopleSoft programmer and administrator for the past many years, needless to say, I've struggled with the variety of components of PeopleSoft security. This book does an admirable job of putting it all in one place. The bright points of the book is that it is written in a concise and straight forward manner. It does cover all the key points of PeopleSoft Security. A weakness of the book, in my opinion, is it's lack of suggestions for how to use the tool set. Oracles "PeopleBooks" also provides guidance on the tools. This book does do a better job of tools guidance than PeopleBooks, but it'd be a big feature if tactics or strategies for use of the tools were offered.

All in all, this book is worth the investment and is a good reference source.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and Concise, July 17, 2005
This review is from: The Expert Guide to PeopleSoft Security (Paperback)
I found this to be a good and concise summary of PeopleSoft security. While this information is totally found in white papers and PeopleTools documentation, it is presented in a clear and concise manner. What it does not include though are the links between primary security sets and application specific requirements (i.e. H/R Globalization and H/R defaults). It also does not go into specifics on Portal Synchronization and some of the "undocumented features" that go along with it. On the whole though, I recommend it for those who want a concise, easy to read PS security manual.
