This review is from: An Expert in Murder: A New Mystery Featuring Josephine Tey [EXPERT IN MURDER]
there seems to be an obvious effort on the part of the author to insert characters with alternative lifestyles. In Chapter One the train is met in London by two lesbians and then, not much further on in the book, the reader encounters two gay men having a spat.
I was thrilled to find a murder mystery set in 1930's London in the theater district and this book will be a very good read for anyone who doesn't mind a little sex and modern views interjected into their vintage mystery yarn. Based on An Expert in Murder (2008), Ms. Upson is certainly a talented and gifted writer. I hope to read more of her in the future. I just don't need to know with what sex a fictional charter is not sleeping with. |
