5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the bunch of current podcasting books
Many different topics are covered; this book gives a good flavor to what's needed to launch a podcast. The value of this book is increased by the audio, video, and information files provided on the DVD. Topics like "adding a blog to your podcast" included here have been skipped by most podcasting books.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
Expert Podcasting Practices for Dummies turned out to be another chapter of his first book which was grate.
But I would not recommend this book it really doesn't add value to what he already coverd in his first book.
I do recommend his First book.
I believe he just used his success in the fist one to drive people to buy this one, this book is of very low...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the bunch of current podcasting books, January 25, 2008
This review is from: Expert Podcasting Practices For Dummies (Paperback)
Many different topics are covered; this book gives a good flavor to what's needed to launch a podcast. The value of this book is increased by the audio, video, and information files provided on the DVD. Topics like "adding a blog to your podcast" included here have been skipped by most podcasting books.

Another big plus: the authors aren't afraid to make specific equipment recommendations, and they also recommend lower-end gear for beginners. On the topic of USB Microphones, the authors mentioned the Rode Podcaster microphone. They didn't mention the huge advantage of this mic: it has a headphone jack built-in to the microphone so you can hear yourself without any latency. As the authors note, this is a problem for all other USB microphones. I've picked up one of these wonderful microphones for my own podcasting.

With the bonus material on the DVD, you get a sense of the fun of podcasting.

This was one of the books that led me into podcasting, along with its predecessor, and the authors do a great job covering the basics. The book, and its companion podcasts, are often referred to when I have a question about mics, mixers, setting levels, editing software and using Wordpress. Highly recommended, not just for beginners, but anyone using podcasting as a hobby or a profession. I promote both books in my Podcasting 101 workshops for clients.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good quick reference, May 3, 2009

This review is from: Expert Podcasting Practices For Dummies (Paperback)
This book is a good book to supplement other books on podcasting, especially Podcasting for Dummies. I wish it had more information on microphones, but over all, I enjoy having this book as a reference guide. I don't rely on one book for any subject, so I get other books to supplement and compliment each other. This author has some good input that is beneficial to a newbe like me. I would recommend this book to you for a good help to you in your podcasting endeavors.

I do recommend his First book.
I believe he just used his success in the fist one to drive people to buy this one, this book is of very low value.
There are very few training videos in the DVD.
