5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST space rock album I've ever heard, period., August 11, 2005
By
I rarely give anything 5 stars, but this is well deserved. Any true space rock fan will already have heard of this album/group. I was always in the Hawkwind hard rock camp, when it comes to this sub-genre, and so this has more of a hard rock feel than the previous albums (programmed beats kind of annoy me, as on Pressurehed's earlier,"Infadrone"), and that's why I prefer this. Musically, it's light years ahead of the earlier projects done under this name. I get the impression this is their last album due to other projects, and via a few emails to them, I believe it was a "collective" project rather than a true rock group (A collective effort, like Olivia Tremor Control). Nevertheless, I never tire of it. The key to great space rock is momentum; these guys know their stuff--well, being in Hawkind didn't hurt either--and it sounds like the aural equivalent of a million pounds of rocket thrust. This is the sort of album that fuels imaginative escapist fantasy. My favorite track is "Valiant Thor", and I'd say 85-90% of the album is great. I've heard a lot of space rock since Hawkwind started, back in the '70's, and not much else tops this (though Jet Jaguar comes close). They may never make another recording under the Pressurehed banner, but this is utterly essential if you're into Progressive rock, space rock, or any other sort of trippy stuff. Five definitive stars!

4.0 out of 5 stars 90's space-rock..., October 26, 1999
...with some (slight) industrial influence. This is really good, trippy, and flowing. The songs are tuneful, when they are songs, and the other stuff that is wierder adds dimension. A lot of it quite energetic in that old hypnotic Hawkwind way, with the guitars mixed load. Other pieces are more keyboard dominated. Their best yet--be sure to play it loud. I can't wait for the next one. Also be sure to check out their work with Nik Turner (Sphinx, Present or Future, etc.) and the side project Farflung.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pressureheds best..., July 8, 2003
This is a great album, entertaining and very well mixed/produced too. The unexplained theme works nicely and makes a strong astmospheric thread throughout, rather than being pretentious. There are several music styles in there and some interesting samples both of which help prove this album to be a cut above your average space rock. Many of the beats have that distinctive feel typical of Grenas and Del Rio (now "Aubian Lights")
