Great way to teach your child how to read!,

I taught both of my sons (both 4 when we first started) how to read using Explode the Code. The books are well organized and use lots of repetition without boring the kids. Also the sentences used in the books are often humorous which keep my kids laughing. My only pet peeve about these books is that in a few cases, the drawings could have been better. However, overall, I highly recommend parents who would like to teach their children how to read to use Explode the Code.

I work with students who have specific learning disabilities, and these books have been so wonderful in helping them increase their phoneme and phonics skills. They are a great tool to use as homework pages because my students have had success doing them independently; it increases their self-esteem and their desire to learn how to read.

I started my 7 year old on the Explode the Code series in preschool. She went through books A, B, and C. And then we started into the numbered books. We are currently about to begin Book 5. They are a wonderful reinforcement to phonics. I'm now beginning the series with my 4 year old as well.
