3.0 out of 5 stars Not quite the Titanic truth as the author would like us to believe.
Wohlberg has tried to dispell some sincerely wrong ideas with some of his own sincerely wrong ideas. However, I won't argue with the idea that the Pope, the Bishop of Rome, 'as above all and judged by none', is a usurper of God's authority, but I will take issue with Wohlberg's earthly Israel as having no further part in God's plans or promises. As far as the Pope goes,...

Without a doubt, this is a most provocative book that will stir Christians around the globe to study their Bibles more carefully. Read for yourself and see who Israel is and isn't from the New Testament. The conclusions emerge right from the plain teachings of the Scriptures, but often challenge popularly held views. You'll be shocked! But along with the apostle Paul you will be led to conlude that "he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly...but he is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumsion is that of the heart." Romans 2:28,29

If you're not convinced from the book, then get the video series offered by the same author entitled "Israel in Prophecy".

Now is the time to study. Now is the time to pray. Now is the time to know the truth!

5.0 out of 5 stars God has truly blessed this author., March 28, 2003

So much of what bible prophecy teachers present today is based on their own preconceived understandings that lead them to conclusions, that lead to assumptions and still more conclusions that are not based on the pure words of scripture. NOT SO WITH THIS BOOK. This author brings a purity of understanding and an approach that allows the scriptures to speak for itself and the truth to plainly be told. Scripture MUST be compared to scripture for any proper interpretation to follow. To allow the Bible to be its own interpreter is absolutely necessary if the terms such as "Israel" and "Temple" are to be understood in the manner that God intended. This author's approach does not allow preconceived ideas to interfere with the message that God wants us to have to be prepared for these last days. The truth is often not what most people think. When you read chapter 2, "A New Look at Jesus Christ", you will gain a new and profound appreciation for the name "Israel".

4.0 out of 5 stars A Gem Among The Flood of Futurist Dispen-sensational Books, March 28, 2003
By
Herb Frizzell, Sr. (Cedar Hill, Texas (outside Dallas)) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exploding the Israel Deception (Paperback)
Steve Wohlberg's book "Exploding the Israel Deception" is a breath of fresh air - it clears the stale air of too many Futurist books constantly overemphasizing the "literal" approach - indeed, Wohlberg's book shows the beautiful balance between "literal" and "symbolic" in the Scriptures. Origen went too far one way (allegorical or symbolic); Futurist go too far the other way (literal). Wohlberg shows that Jesus' first coming was both "literal" and "symbolic"; viz., the 70-Weeks Prophecy of Daniel 9 was symbolically shown as "seventy weeks" - which everyone agrees were symbolic "weeks of years" where a DAY equals a YEAR, and not 'literal' weeks of 24-hour days by any means; and yet Jesus also "literally" came to fulfill the symbolic 70-Weeks Prophecy concerning himself, his work, and the literal Cross, since he came "on time" and "in the fulness of time". Wohlberg takes a large bull by the horns, namely, the "Left Behind" bull-headed mentality of Tim LaHaye, Tommy Ice & Company who preach mainly the literal "days" of the prophetic Scriptures. Wohlberg, on the other hand, shows that the fulfillments of these "days" - 1,260 days, 1,290 days, 1,335 days, and the 2,300 days, etc. - have rather been literal years figured symbolically at "1 Day = 1 Year" - again, showing the biblical balance of literal and symbolic that the popular end-time speculative scenarios often sorely lack. "Exploding..." is a true countervailing weight against the overemphases by the popular Futurist "Left Behind" scenarios of end-times prophecy books that populate the majority of shelf-space at Christian Bookstores. Wohlberg's book is indeed a gem of shining brilliance found among the drab Futurist 'popular' and highly speculative, but deceptive, views of end-time Bible prophecy events which flood the media and the shelves of Christian bookstores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guts, March 31, 2003

It takes guts to write a book like this. Seldom does truth don the clothes of popularity, and since the Left Behind Series has sold so many millions of copies, Wohlberg's book certainly will come under fire.

Since Wohlberg is himself a physical Jew, he writes with a clarity and understanding which us Gentiles lack. Not only does the book challenge popular thinking, it also synthesizes stacks of Biblical references in their context. I have been blessed by the clarity with which he has written. Shattering presuppositions and assumptions, Wohlberg confronts the Biblical truth of God's special people. A veritable feast of clear Bible teaching!

This book shows the differants between the literal and the spiritual. If one reads it with an open mind, they will see the deception. Unfortunately the deception will go on and multitudes will not see. It is to bad, for the truth is in this little book. Spiritual things are spiritually Discerned.

Any student of the Bible needs to read this book. It provides a totally new look at Bible prophecy and the way it has been interpreted for so long. Much research has been given this subject, and this theory provides us with more interesting insight. A great read!

As with all of his books,Steve Wohlberg bases his material on Scripture while considering the context.

Although I found a few ideas that I disagree with.

I believe that 144,000 are actually physical descendants of the 12 tribes rather than a spiritual group or the church.

He has a very good point regarding his concept of the 144,000 "not being defiled by women" (Rev.14:4).

Mr. Wohlberg offers a very clear,contextual,Scripture-based refutation of a third temple.

He gives 10 points that provide logical, convincing evidence that the "one week" prophecy has already been fulfilled in the past. Another words, there is no suspension in the 70 weeks prophecy in Daniel.

"The entire seven year period of great tribulation is a grand illusion."-page 47.

Jesus(Yahushua) was the one that caused sacrifice to cease. Not the antichrist. I believe that he is correct. As well as the idea that the "restrainer" of II Thess.2:5,6 was not the Church, but actually the Roman Empire's Caesars.

His material on the "Law" came very close to validating Torah! It's more than just the 10 Commandments, excluding,of course, the sacrificial laws.

I appreciate Steve Wohlberg's points of view as a Jewish man who is a Christian author. "Exploding the Israel Deception" is a good book for Bible-based end times prophecy and I recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Real Deal, August 28, 2000

What a great book! It is a page turner. The author is very well studied in both the New and Old Testament. Never before have I seen anyone integrate the Bible in such a way. This book is a great study for anyone wanting to know what "Israel" really is. Is it people, land, a race, or what? It will satisfy even the most intellectual person. Even beginning Bible students will get something out of it if they study it intently. An excellent book!

As far as the Pope goes, even St. Gregory the Great, a Bishop of Rome, predicted that the person to take the ill-advised title of "Universal Pope" was the precursor of the Antichrist. But let's move on to the earthly Israel and see if they are really "out of the picture" so to speak. Has the Church permanently replaced earthly fleshly Israel to the point of their being forgotten? Here we need to take Paul's warning, as inspired by the Holy Spirit, to heart. That is, "do not boast against the branches...Do not be haughty, but fear." Paul continues, "For I do not desire brethern that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved, as it is written." Romans 10:20, 25-26. Now it is ridiculous to think that the Church is the subject matter in these verses just because it is the new Israel. If so, then the Church is blind until all the Gentiles come in...I don't think so! However, I do think Wohlberg has become "wise in his own opinion" and needs to think carefully about fleshly Israel and repent. God's gifts and calling are irrevocable. Like Paul states, "For God has committed them [fleshly Israel and us] all to disobedience, that He might have mercy on all." It is evident that Wohlberg is wrong about fleshly Israel. Yes, "Concerning the gospel they are enemies for your [our] sake, but concerning the election they are beloved for the sake of the fathers." Romans 11:28. Surely it is not the Church that is the enemy as we are the elect of God, but so, too, will be the fleshly Israel, because they are beloved for the sake of the fathers. There is no doubt about it, fleshly Israel is loved by God, and some day whether sooner rather than later, or later rather than sooner, all of Israel will complete this prediction, "for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!'". Matthew 23:39. In the meantime I believe Wohlberg needs to rethink his thinking about the earthly fleshing Israel. Paul certainly would not pray for the Church to be saved...of that we can be certain. AMEN

1.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy, September 20, 2011
By
Liza Jane (Colorado United States) - See all my reviews
Mr. Wohlberg spiritualizes the Bible. We must choose to either take God at His Word (literally) or to spiritualize his words into myths that fit our fantasies. The author takes the Calvinist position on end times, calling the Church "Israel", telling us the rapture will not happen, that we're living in the millineum now, and that the Jewish Temple will never be rebuilt. Such vast contradiction of the Scriptures is thankfully rare.

We must be very careful to compare what men tell us with what God says in the Bible. That's not hard to do and protects us from delusional men who would have us put our faith in them 'instead of' God.
