This review is from: Explorations on Martha Rogers' Science of Unitary Human Being (Hardcover)
This book is the best anthology published about the Rogerian principles applied in Nursing practice. It's very useful to nurses who intend to work with Rogers' Science of Unitary Human Beings. Ana Cristina de Sa, RN, MSN, PhD candidate, University of Sao Paulo - Brazi

".....
This book arises from a network of people who conducted basic research within the Science of Unitary Human Beings.
Studies derived from this conceptual system are presented to the reader in the spirit in which they were undertaken --- the spirit of inquiry.

We wanted to SHARE OUR EXPERIENCES IN CONDUCTING RESEARCH, SUCCESSES AND MISSES, in the hope of stimulating further dialogue into research within this conceptual system.....

I hope this book will contribute to networking among those nurses who are interested in the Science of Unitary Human Beings.
It should provide a frame work to facilitate an exchange of ideas with colleagues.

Martha E. Rogers in an internationally known leader in nursing.
She received a diploma in nursing from Knoxville General Hospital and degrees from George Peabody College; Teachers College, Columbia University; and Johns Hopkins University.

Rogers was founding executive director of the Visiting Nurse Service in Phoenix, Arizona, an organization she started with two other nurses in 1945.

From 1954 to 1975 she headed the Division of Nursing at New York University where she helped to build one of the first Ph.D. programs in nursing.
She is now professor emeritus there....."

2.0 out of 5 stars academic incest, March 3, 2003
By
j. broadbent r.n. (Folsom, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Explorations on Martha Rogers' Science of Unitary Human Being (Hardcover)
This is a manditory text on Roger's nursing model. A good example of "ever learning but never able to come to a knowledge of the truth." Malinksi churns, restates, and elevates Rogers, but like her mentor, rejects the scrutiny of logical positivism and empiricism without apology. The goyim of traditional science like Aristotle, Descartes, Einstein and Popper are ignored out of hand. This is the philisophy of phenomenology without phenomena. Qualitative research becomes mystical. Inclusion of Rogerian theory denegrates the metaparadyme of nursing concepts as well as public perception of the verity and relevance of the profession. Two stars is for format, style and effort.
