Book Description

The Explorers Of Ararat is a comprehensive and truly unique book about the search for the remains of Noah's Ark. First, the book is an incredible, collaborative effort where each chapter is written by a leading ark research expedition leader. This gives the reader many different views and information regarding ark research from the actual explorers themselves. They have traveled to Mount Ararat, Mount Cudi and the Durupinar site dozens of times in search of the elusive ark. Second, the book offers a compilation of ark resources including historical and contemporary accounts. This objective reference work combines the best of ark research archives with new eyewitness accounts to help the reader understand the historical view of the ark. The book includes 300 photographs and illustrations.

Review

The search for Noah's Ark has fascinated me for years. I participated in an expedition to Mount Ararat in 1985. I was the doctor for the PROBE team organized by Bill Crouse and John McIntosh. Some incredible things happened to us on that particular trip, but I will let the explorers of Ararat give you the details later in this book. From then on, I decided to stay home and write books, because it is much safer. B.J. Corbin has taken a valuable approach to the subject by making The Explorers of Ararat-And the Search for Noah's Ark a truly collaborative effort involving most of the top Ararat expedition leaders in the country. What you are about to read are the actual firsthand accounts written by the explorers. Never has there been a book on the subject of Noah's Ark with so much collective experience. The explorers in this book account for nearly one hundred expeditions to Turkey. B.J. himself was a team member with Dr. Charles Willis in 1988, with Chuck Aaron and Robert Garbe in 1989, with Dr. Don Shockey in 1990, and with Robert Michelson and Jim Hall in 1998. His twelve years of research and four trips to Mount Ararat give B.J. a unique and qualified perspective on the search for Noah's Ark. The thing that I really appreciate about B.J. Corbin is that he does not jump to conclusions. He attempts to objectively weigh the evidence and demands conclusive proof before he will accept any premature announcement that Noah's Ark has been found. This ability to step back and analyze the data objectively before jumping forward to a conclusion is an extremely desirable quality for any reputable explorer. I met B.J. when he and his wife were providing the music for one of my national book seminars. B.J. and Jennifer write and perform Christian music and were my special musical guests. I feel that it was no coincidence that we met under those circumstances, found we had both been to Mount Ararat and found that we both studied Bible prophecy. I think you will enjoy the fact that each chapter is a separate story in itself. Having been to Mount Ararat, I respect the explorers who risk their lives in the search. Our hope is that a conclusive discovery would help stir the heart of the unbeliever to accept our modern day ark of salvation, Jesus Christ. -- Paul Meier, M.D.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive guide to the explorers of the Ark, January 30, 2000
This review is from: The Explorers Of Ararat (Paperback)
If you are interested in any way about Noahs Ark, this is THE book to read. Thouroughly comprehensive and extremely detailed, it describes the various expeditions to the mountains of Ararat , the incredible hardships endured, past accounts and sightings and a lot more besides. The wealth of photographs and diagrams is excellent, attention to detail is paramount in this book. The main reason you wont put it down, though, is the fact that it is written in such an unbiased view, the facts are there and you are left to your own conclusions and I think this is vital in the process of creating such a book. Highly Recommended.

I just finished " Explorers of Ararat ". What a fabulous adventure story. I have followed the hunt for Noah's Ark for years and by far this was the most objective book that I've read about it. Regardless of the religious convictions of the explorers , they gave an unbiased account of their experiences trying to uncover this great mystery. I can hardly wait until the new edition comes out in 2001. Bravo !!!

This was a fascinating read of the struggles experienced by those who have tried to scale Ararat and find the Ark. The persistence and bravery of these individuals must be applauded. Granted most of these people aren't professional writers, so some of their recollections may lack the prose of a good non-fiction book. But I found the writings difficult to put down. I especially enjoyed the accounts of some who had explored the notions that the Biblical and historical references are to the "mountains" of Ararat, instead of "the Mountain of Ararat," and I found myself wondering if in fact, the Ark may well be in a location considered secondary by many. But all in all, I could have used a little less preaching and a little more recounting of experiences, journal-like, or a few more recitations of historical references. I preferred these to the preachings, which I can get 24/7 on the radio, on TV or from my bookshelves. But that's just my personal preference. I enjoyed this book very much.
