4.0 out of 5 stars Traveling with this book
Just the guidebook I needed for a slow meander from Tampa to Alabama along the south Florida coast. Lots of helpful information about off-beat locations, well organized as to type (nature trips/restaurants/b&b's/galleries/historical spots/etc). The only limitation of this interesting companion volume is its maps - the text mentions places that the maps don't identify.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very limited information. Maps are missing necessary info.
I was annoyed that the book lists all restaurants - hotels - shops by neighborhood, yet doesn't list ANY neighborhood names on its maps. So you have no way of knowing where/what side of town any of the stuff is! Since its a travel guide I don't know why they assumed their readers would know where certain neighborhoods are. I guess it was a (large) mistake by the editors/writers. It's hard to find a book about Jacksonville, FL so I bought this one (it covers all of north Fl from Pensacola to Jax) but the info on Jax is so limited, probably not much more than I could find by just scouring a few websites. It lists only a few restaurants - hotels - shops, which I kind of like cuz then it's not overwhelming to pick one but just be forewarned that it doesn't give you many options. Another thing that bugged me is all of the very small, black and white photos are just generic Florida pictures, with no caption as to where they were taken. I'm not even sure from looking at them if the ones in the Jax chapter are of Jax beaches, etc. or just anywhere in Florida. I don't feel like the writers/editors put enough effort into this book.
