4.0 out of 5 stars Review by Paul Wallis - author of "Be Thou My Breastplate"., January 8, 2009
Many books have hinted at the relevance of "Celtic Christianity" to the needs of today's Christians, hungry for authentic forms of spirituality and authentic experiences of Christian community. Ray Simpson actually unpacks what other books have hinted at.

The body of Celtic literature from the Dark Ages is more than an interesting tonic for the post-modern believer, it spells out approaches to faith, prayer, community, mission, ecology, theology, socilogy, church-life and evangelism. Not only has Ray Simpson done the work of exegeting these implications, but he does so with some authority, since his life is one wrapped up in the geography and continutiy of the Celtic tradition on Aidan's island home of Lindisfarne.

You don't need a love of history to find this book important. If you are seeking understanding, inspiration and a guide for authentic Christian living today, I recommend this book with a whole heart.

Paul Wallis - author of "BE THOU MY BREASTPLATE - 40 days of giving your life to God the Celtic way!" (Continuum/Paulist) "This serene, superb...book is...a rich gift to the Church." Phyllis Tickle)

5.0 out of 5 stars A practical introduction to Celtic Christian Spirituality, September 25, 1998
By A Customer
Ray Simpson has given us a book that provides us with a practical approach to Celtic Christian Spirituality. Drawing upon the historic roots of the Church in early Britain, he sets out before us various themes such as:Communities of Faith; Contemplative Prayer; Hospitality; Real Men, Women and Families; The Cross in Creation; The Wild Goose and many more.

In dealing with these many themes, he manages to draw them all together and set out a practical spirituality that is both acutely relevant for today, rooted in the past and yet will equip us for the next millennium.

Together with prayers and responses, each chapter provides rich seams that repay several revisits. This book will enrich your life and help you to make the world a far better place. What better reason than this to read it... what are you waiting for!
