Editorial Reviews

Review

"This book is a must for those working with student groups…" (NACADA)

From the Back Cover

This is the thoroughly revised and updated second edition of the best-selling book Exploring Leadership. The book is designed to help college students understand that they are capable of being effective leaders and to guide them in developing their leadership potential.

Exploring Leadership incorporates new insights and material developed in the course of the authors' work in the field. The second edition contains expanded and new chapters and also includes the relational leadership model, uses a more global context and examples that relate to a wide variety of disciplines, contains a new section which emphasizes ways to work to accomplish change, and concludes with concrete strategies for activism.

Praise for the First Edition

"My students have been searching for a leadership book that they don't have to translate to their experiences. At last, here is a book that integrates cutting-edge ideas of leadership with examples and stories from college students."
—Kathleen E. Allen, senior fellow, Academy of Leadership at the University of Maryland

"As a long-time teacher of leadership courses, I know that my students will resonate with Exploring Leadership. The book presents a well-developed analysis of both the 'how' and the 'why' of leadership as a relational process and also challenges student readers to think about how they might practice leadership throughout their lives."
—Sara A. Boatman, vice president for student affairs, Nebraska Wesleyan University

This book is, quite simply, the best book written on student leadership available on the market today -- bar none. Komives connects with today's students in a way that empowers them to make a difference! A must have for every student leader on a college campus and those who seek to learn about, challenge, and support them. If you are teaching a course using this book, don't miss the free instructor's guide available online on the publisher's website -- it is well over 100 pages long and is a spectacular resource. It will save you hundreds of hours of course preparation time and provides deep learning opportunities for your students!

I am aware of the copy wright issues book producers and sellers are facing pertaining to their books. I am all for securing your interest, however, this book is okay because it is just to read, but the other book I purchased is a work book, so it need to be printable. If these E books are made printable for students, once they enter their student ID or something along that line, it will entice us to purchase them, but as we speak, students are distancing themselves from E books. Other than that I love shopping on Amazon.com

This book is not for anyone. This is specifically for people who want to peruse a part of their life within a leadership role and how to do that.

Good textbook. Almost pedestrian. This would be good for a High School Class for leadership development. It is almost to simple for college but worth the information.

The book got to me quickly and was in excellent condition. I would recommend them and this book to help get into better touch with more knowledge about leadership even if it isn't required for a class.
Thank you

Great book, easy to read and has larger print than normal. Didn't notice it for a while, but finally did when my eyes wern't getting as fatigued. Also has great research content, but its still interesting, much more that Northhouse's similar book. Can't go wrong with a textbook that make Starwars references! :)

Do you want to be a leader? Well, everyone can! That is what this book says and gives multiple types of leaders and leadership instead of any real concrete opinions about what a leader is or should be.
