2.0 out of 5 stars Review for medical terminology textbook
The book was decent and the flashcards were a thoughtful gift as well; however in order to take the class hpex medical terminology you have to have an access code. Which if bought in the book stores they provide you with one, however your text book did not come with an access code therefore I had to withdraw from the class because I had already missed two modules due to...

I used this book last quarter for my medical term class. The book was wonderful thank goodness because the instructor was not. I literally taught myself because all the instructor did was read to us out of the book. At first glance you may think the info in any given chapter is too repetitous but after getting into the class you need that repetition to learn all the terms. The exercises in the chapters ask you questions from every possible angle so that you really learn the material, not just memorize it for a short time to take a quiz or test. And you gain a very good understanding of what prefixes and suffixes mean so that a lot of times when you come across a new term you can figure it out. I still refer to this book when taking other classes. This book has become my terminology bible. And the cd's are a lot of fun.

The book was decent and the flashcards were a thoughtful gift as well; however in order to take the class hpex medical terminology you have to have an access code. Which if bought in the book stores they provide you with one, however your text book did not come with an access code therefore I had to withdraw from the class because I had already missed two modules due to the length of the time it took to receive the book, and when I did receive the book it didnt have an access code. So for future references you guys may want to consider providing access codes along with the textbook.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Book for the Independent Learner, June 10, 2010
I love books that allow me to self-teach. I found this book an easy read, I bought and read much of it before taking a class. I liked it for the style in which the chapters are separated. They are divided into major systems, respiratory, digestive... Then, they divided the words into stuff you can figure out from word parts and words that you must simply memorize.

I liked the pronunciation guides. They are written in the text and I find that more convenient than using the audio clips. The activities are straight-forward and I repeated most of them several times.

I felt like this book had all of the stuff I wanted in a medical terminology text.

Was necessary to take a course for school, but also proved to be useful for my pathophysiology course that followed later in my education. The book is very user-friendly, and includes a large number of exercises for learning techniques.

I am studying to be a medical assistant and this book is just wonderful! Learning medical terminology is like learning a new language and this book does an excellent job in teaching students med language. It's a textbook/workbook and it contains tons of exercises and coloured pictures to help you learn. It's a fun book! I'd highly recommend this to anyone who needs or wants to learn medical terminologies. This book is easy to learn and you don't really need an instructor to help you understand this book.
