4.0 out of 5 stars Wesleyan-Arminian theology
This interesting book is a textbook, created by a group of Nazarene educators, and designed to give the reader a firm grounding in Wesleyan-Arminian theology. It covers everything from the history of doctrine, through comparative religions, and on to Christian practice and ethics.

3.0 out of 5 stars Informative
If you have questions about Weslian theology Purkiser's book is a great place to have many questions answered. However, this is not an easy read. It would be best to read this book with your Bible and a good dictionary handy. Some of the terms are never defined in the length of the book.

This interesting book is a textbook, created by a group of Nazarene educators, and designed to give the reader a firm grounding in Wesleyan-Arminian theology. It covers everything from the history of doctrine, through comparative religions, and on to Christian practice and ethics.

This book is, and has been since the 1960s, a basic book for Nazarene studies, and is still used by many Nazarene colleges. The editor, W. T. Purkiser (1910-92) was a noted Nazarene pastor and theologian. Indeed, for anyone interested in understanding the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, whether Nazarene or otherwise, this book is a wonderful resource. Now, as might be expected with a textbook, it is rather dry and academic sounding. But, that said, it is a fascinating book of theology, one that I highly recommend.
