Worth every cent!,
By Sia Fox , a.ka. Nixie Rose (Biloxi, MS USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exploring Scrying (Exploring Series) (Paperback)
"Exploring Scrying, How to Divine the Future and Make the Most of it", by Ambrose Hawk is an exceptionally well-written instruction on the skill of scrying. I would highly recommend this book for the novice as well as the intermediate and advanced practitioner. When reading this book and practicing the exercises that Ambrose has offered, you will truly discover your abilities to heighten, whether you have ever applied your God-given talents for scrying or not before. Ambrose Hawk's down-to-earth and personal art of disclosure in his writing brings about the sensation of direct teacher to student instruction. You'll feel as if Ambrose himself is holding your hand through each chapter! His dabs of humor throughout the reading are enlightening, however his warnings should not be taken lightly. A simply spectacular book!

I have been scrying for over a quarter of a century and yet this book was able to teach me new things about my old craft. The best thing about Mr. Hawk's book is that it contains a complete set of instructions. From selecting a scrying device, to preparing it, to clearing it of past influences, to linking it with your own psychic nature, and (most importantly) to actually scrying, this book is solid gold. It is delightfully free of dogma and the writing is clear and easy to understand. "Exploring Scrying" should be in every psychic's bookshelf.

Well Done Subject Matter!,

I have had the pleasure of knowing and conversing (thru E-mails) with Ambrose Hawk for a few years now. He is a member of my own online discussion group as well as a continued contributor to the online site, A Mystical Grove.
This is a little book with a good solid message. It's about helping you to open your creativity thru the use of an old technique called Scrying. In case you're wondering Scrying is another term used by the Occult community for "seeing that which is yet unknown" usually thru a device of some sort such as a pool of ink, a mirror or crystal to name a few. The book is chock full of ideas, tips, & hints to help you facilitate a better understanding of what Scrying is and how to use it. While not only helping you discover the future, Scrying also goes to help you learn to focus your mind. This alone is worth the time and effort it takes to learn to Scry. Another important aspect that is often overlooked on this very subject is the use of Scrying to help one become more creative. For instance, take a problem or challenging situation you're facing and focus your mind onto your speculum with the problem right there in front of you. Let it sit there and allow your mind a free rangeof possible alternatives. You will be surprised at what will pop up! Some of the ideas may not be useful to you at all however, many will be OR can be adapted to be useful! One of the best chapters in here is Chapter 6 which is about choosing your Speculum - the device used to Scry with. Ambrose discusses the various potentials using the traditional crystal ball and whether you should or not opt for glass or real crystal. He also discusses the pros and cons of a dark surfaced mirror. Then you get him later discussing using wine in a bowl as a speculum. He goes on to give you some of hs own lessons in exercises and how ritual interacts with the Scrying art. Plus he shares with you some subtle things like what you may see but is careful not to plant ideas in your head which is precisely the thing you DON'T want. Rather Ambrose allows you to make up your own mind. All in all, I found the book to be useful and insightful. It had an index and biblilography and even had a short bio about the author at the very end. The book doesn't have any redundant material other than maybe basic relaxation exercises but for the most part, it's a complete and fairly tight book on the subject. At the listed price, I felt it rated 5 out of 5 stars of a book on this particular subject. It held my attention and offered much in the way of practical applicatons. Get this one and add it to your collection but most of all, study it and DO the work!

Totally different view on scrying.,

This review is from: Exploring Scrying (Exploring Series) (Paperback)
Very little reference to magic or metaphysics but that's what makes is so good. It looks at several theories and ways to scry including a lot that are more towards the physchological instead of the esoteric.

This delightful little book caught my attention...drawn to it perhaps??? Regardless as to the reasons why, I found the material to be entertaining and informative. The author addresses his reading audience in a humorous, well written, to the point manner. He approaches the subject so that the novice can read, absorb the information and not be timid in her/his attempt to begin to learn and understand the ancient art of scrying. One is encouraged to learn what ones skill may be in this area of the metaphysical.I found the presentation easy to read, understand and would recommend this book to anyone so interested. Looking forward to more from this augthor.

SUPERB READING FOR THE STUDENT OF THE ESOTERIC,
By Nancy Shelton (Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exploring Scrying (Exploring Series) (Paperback)
Mr. Hawk has achieved the rare success of presenting a concise and understandable study of a well-known, yet little understood, practice that has been with mankind since the dawn of time. Written with true scholarly flare, this study of an ancient craft is both informative and appeals to our more Western modes of thinking and introspection without pandering to the often rather silly superstitions many hold of the mystical arts. Mr. Hawk shines a beacon of truth and light into a fascinating arena of practice among the sincere and growing number of modern mystics and those interested simply in further developing personal psychic abilities.

Ambrose Hawk writes concisely and clearly on a little-understood topic. I could hardly put the book down even to eat, and by the time I finished it, I felt that I had the information I needed to approach scrying with confidence. If you wish to learn scrying, you will not go wrong with this volume.

This book is the basic of the basic. It was filled with lots of breathing exercises and how to's on choosing a crystal ball. At about chapter 7 was when they had a how to section and this was only about a page or two long. I could have saved time just reading this stuff on the web. I was a little disapointed and was hoping for a bit more in the how to part.

i want to know how to scry,
By polgaras (west memphis, ar usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Exploring Scrying (Exploring Series) (Paperback)
i've only scanned the book so far, and have enjoyed the layout tremendously...each section appears to build from the previous sections, yet is easily understood on it's own merits...for such a small book it carries a pack of information. it is interesting that scrying is not typically considered christian in any sort, but the author quotes much from biblical references...and accurately at that...s/he makes no attempt to misquote or mislead the readers...overall, i find this a worthy book to learn from!
