By watching Exploring Tamil, your child will: (1) learn to identify and name about 30 common objects – For example ducks, butterfly, milk, bananas etc. (2) learn some basic antonyms – For example open/close, front/back etc. (3) learn to recognize colors – For example red, blue, green, yellow, black and white (4) learn to recognize colors in association with an object - For example yellow bananas, green grapes and white eggs (5) learn to recognize numbers from 1-10 (6) learn to count objects - For example, count six bananas one by one (7) learn to put it all (object, number, color) together to form simple phrases - For example, learn to count six yellow bananas.

5.0 out of 5 stars My sons enjoy this video and they are learning a little Tamil!, March 12, 2007
This review is from: Exploring Tamil - Kids Learn Tamil (DVD)
My wife is a native Tamil speaker but I am not. My sons (ages 3 and 5) are always fascinated when my wife speaks Tamil on the phone. This video has allowed my sons and I to add several vocabulary words for numbers, colors, fruit and several other items around the house. The format borrows quite heavily from the Baby Einstein series with comparable production style so if your children enjoy those videos they will like these too. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Effective DVD, August 3, 2007

This review is from: Exploring Tamil - Kids Learn Tamil (DVD)
I really liked the 'Exploring Tamil' DVD. It is smartly designed to teach small kids common Tamil words used in everyday situations. I especially liked the progression of the DVD - they start with simple concepts like words, colors, numbers and then put them together very effectively. All words were repeated multiple times for emphasis.

My 4 and 6 year old sons can understand Tamil but cannot speak it well. They really liked the DVD and continue to repeat words they heard on the DVD. The DVD has also inspired them towards speaking more Tamil - they now frequently ask me "What do you say for this in Tamil?".

Very average, obviously home-made video. My two year old daughter could only watch it a few times before getting bored.
