Excellent source for an introdcution to theater class, May 24, 2000
This review is from: Exploring Theatre (Hardcover)
This is book is an excellent resource for a teacher teaching an introduction to theater. The book is very colorful, has vivid pictures, artistic visual patterns and contemporary information on shows and dramtic productions.
The book is divided into sections. Each section is then divided into lessons. Each lesson has vocabulary, questions, research topics, and a assignments for the students to practice what the lessons have taught.
Historical references are spread sporadically. Each article is concise and informative. Pictures or sketches are added to give the student an idea of the history.
Included also in the book are sections of tech theatre: makeup, sound, lights, costumes and prop construction.
The book also includes how to on: puppetry, reader's theatre, radio theatre and script writing.
Again, an excellent resource. Students love it.
