4.0 out of 5 stars Good fun- the Fastback's "Rocket Man" is brilliant., September 30, 1999

Good fun for fans of the old K-Tel compilations from the 1970s. The disk is predictably uneven, but contains some real gems, especially the Fastback's version of "Rocket Man" and a folk version of ABBA's "Dancing Queen." If you are hankerin' for a hunk of cheese, this is the disk for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic-alicious, July 24, 2003

I have been listening to this CD for years. The music, of course, is timeless. The artists are awesome. Each group or artist gives their own spin on each classic. The Smithereens doing "It don't come easy" is great. "Go all the way" by Trip Shakespeare is Raspberrie-worthy. Trip Shakespeare later went on to become Semi-sonic. If you want a good laugh at Neil Diamonds expense check out track number 10. Dayglow Abortions redo of I Write the Songs makes Gimme the Gimmes seem like babies.
