I recently began my first of many chem courses at my university (yay...) and I found myself running through sheet after sheet of notebook paper for practice problems. Poor trees/poor wallet. So, I decided to take my roommates advice and get myself a nice whiteboard. This is absolutely perfect for doing scratchwork. It fits on my desk nicely; large but not too large, with a fantastic surface that did not stain even after letting ink sit for over a day. The picture didn't make it clear but ITS DOUBLE SIDED!

YES, it can collapse to be flat. No, it's not completely sturdy, but sturdy enough to write comfortably. Most convenient thing I've bought in a long time. (Warning to Expo: will drop a star if I fail my chem midterm)

Style Name: Magnetic/Black Board Combo with Neon Marker Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
PLEASE NOTE: Amazon is lumping together several different version of dry erase boards. This review is the BLACK/NEON dry erase board.

I loved the idea of having a dark dry erase board with bright neon colors. Plus, the size of the board and its light weight make it ultra-portable. It's sturdier than I expected, with (I believe) brushed aluminum edging and a cardboard backing, and it included three neon colored markers (orange, pink, and yellow). The board came with two types of mounting options--sticky pads or magnetic strips--and the board itself is magnetic. I only wish that it included a mount for the markers as well.

I expected the markers' tips to be chisel (judging from the cap), but was pleasantly surprised that they were tapered, which makes writing to conserve space easier. The downside was that the caps on each of the markers was a pain in the rear to remove. After a bit of yanking and tugging and pulling, the cap comes off, but it also has a tendency to leave ink on the fingers, plus some of the ink bleeds onto the marker itself. Over continued opening & closing, it's become easier to pull off, but not by much. A mild annoyance at most, but still an annoyance.

Next is the actual use of the markers on the board. I expected the colors to be much more vivid and bright, similar to what's displayed in the images, but they weren't. In fact, the colors seemed washed out, closer to pastel, and it was difficult to distinguish them from one another (except the pink). Yes, you could tell they were three different colors, but just barely. The downside to this is that it's difficult to read from a distance.

This is my favorite purchase for our homeschool this year. I love that it saves space by easily collapsing for storage or even for writing on a flat surface as opposed to the tilted easel position. We use this every day for our math lesson. I use it as an easel as I explain the math problems and then we lay it flat for her to work the math problems on her own. It is also double sided and would work for 2 kids to each use a side of the easel. I like that it is magnetic so we can use it with our magnetic spelling curriculum as well.

Style Name: Magnetic/Black Board Combo with Neon Marker Verified Purchase
I read thru quite a few reviews prior to purchasing this product. They mostly commented on how dull the included neon dry erase markers are, and I concur. They're visible just fine, but don't really "pop".

I did a little research and found the "Sanford Wet Erase Bright Stick Markers, Assorted Fluorescent Colors, 5/Pack - 14074" on Amazon which are incredible!

The wet erase markers really stand out and coupled with this black dry erase board it looks just like the more expensive menu boards you'll often see at restaurants/cafes displaying the daily specials. The wet erase markers are easy to erase and the writing doesn't fade or dull.

This combo is perfect for displaying what homebrews I have on tap in my mini kegerator.

This is actually two whiteboards, one on each side. The product photo shows a girl drawing on one side, however this could easily be two kids drawing on opposite sides.

It would be great if a small marker holder was attached in the middle. Not a fault with this product, just something to add.

I have been using this in my lap to whiteboard my code while programming. Makes life a lot easier.

It's a bit smaller than I had figured, and the pocket on the left is actually a pull out mesh, but keeps its shape well. The only complaint is that when installed, it tends to jut out a bit at the bottom, but that's a minor issue. I like the magnetic board, which has been nice. It erases cleanly, and the pocket holds quite a bit. I find that it was worth the money.

Looks great in my condo. I love having a place to drop my mail as soon as I get in. The whiteboard is magnetic and you can also put thumb tacks on the black part too if you needed too.

Style Name: Magnetic/Black Board Combo with Neon Marker Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I didn't think that the neon markers would really look very much like the image on the packaging, but they were surprisingly bright! The chisel tip markers make it easy to make both broad or finer lines. I have a black refrigerator, so it really looked nice on there...not jarring or like a big hunk of white plastic (like so many other boards.) However, my daughter asked to have it to keep on her door to her room since it was "cool." She likes to draw little peace-signs or flowers on it every day. It isn't as bright as one of those lighted black signs with the neon crayons they use in bars...but is still very easy to read and is different and fun.

I did notice one little dent on the surface where the markers were packed in the plastic. I don't know if they were stacked at the factory or what, but it didn't appear to be amazon's shipping method (which looked fine.) It is only noticable when you see it from the side and the light hits it correctly, it doesn't affect the performance of the board or anything, but since another reviewer noticed the same thing, they should try to package it slightly differently to avoid that problem.

Overall I do like it and am considering getting some extra ones for my students at school. I think it would be fun and motivating for them use these to practice vocabulary, spelling or math.
