Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This short volume documents in details the roof structure's progress from the initial draft plan, drawn up by the firm Herzog and Partners, to the landmark's completion. The precise form of its constrution was finalized though a process of integrated planning and development involving several engineering firms and scientific institutions: this included the construction of models, calculations, simulation, wind-tunnel experiments, stress tests, and design studies. The synergies of "man, nature, and technology" as the world exhibition's motto runs, has found a striking symbol in this structure.
