So nice to have a washable dry-erase marker on the market!,

I'm always skeptical when it comes to "washable" products, but these really wash right out of fabrics! The only thing we've discovered they don't wipe easily off of is our black dining room chairs. While the color can be wiped off, the drawing lives it's shadow (best word I could think of). It wipes easily off of our stained wood dining room table though.
My only real complaint about the markers is the colors available. The purple, blue and green are really the only colors dark enough to see clearly. It'd be nice if they made bolder colors.

Boo! Ruined our whiteboard....,
This review is from: Expo Washable Fine Tip Dry Erase Markers, 6 Colored Markers (Office Product)
Just tried these today on our kid's IKEA dry-erase easel, and the pink and blue colors left permanent stains on the whiteboard surface. The other colors wiped off adequately, but the board is now ruined. We tried following EXPO's website instructions for removing marker stains... the stains are now lighter but still very much there. We have used standard EXPO markers on this board for over a year without any hint of a similar problem. This is an issue unique to these new "washable" (not!) markers. Obviously I would not recommend wasting your money on them, as you are apparently taking a chance on destroying whatever surface you use them on. If you really want to try them, I'd suggest you make a small mark with each color in an inconspicous place on your whiteboard and then see if you can remove it. Looks like EXPO spent too much energy on marketing, and not enough on product testing?

Not very washable at all,
This review is from: Expo Washable Fine Tip Dry Erase Markers, 6 Colored Markers (Office Product)
I was very excited to finally find washable dry erase markers on the market. Unfortunately they are nowhere near as washable as they claim and it took me quite a bit of scrubbing with stain remover and several washes to finally get the stains out. Normal washable markers come out with just a little spray & wash, but these are much more difficult to wash. Bummer because my kids were really excited about them...

Bought a brand new expensive KidKraft white board. Dry erase board was working fine, but was staining the kids clothes. Naturally, I bought the washable dry erase expo marker. In less than 2 minutes the white board was completely ruined with the pink marker, as it did not erase. Used the Expo spray and it did not help. STAY AWAY!! EXPO NEEDS TO RECALL THIS PRODUCT!

Washable? They don't even ERASE!!! I have used these on white boards and dry erase books and have had to use more elbow grease to get them to come off than the regular dry erase markers. They should be called non-washable non-dry-erase markers!!! The erasers for dry erase boards do not work on them, nor the spray cleaner designed for dry erase boards. I had to use rubbing alcohol and a lot of elbow grease to get it to erase. Total waste of time and I'm throwing them away!

I bought these for my toddler and preschool to use with dry erase boards and special learning sheets we printed and slid into page protectors. They have held up really well and clean very easily off fabric, walls, hands, etc.

I picked up 2 sets of these Expo washable fine tip dry erase markers because they were on sale at Walgreens super-cheap. However, when we tried to use them on the dry erase boards of a game this weekend, we noticed right away that they wouldn't wipe off and were staining the boards, so we just used some regular old Expo markers instead. BTW, it was the first time we were playing that game, so the white boards weren't beat up or anything. Also, when my daughter tried to use them in her dry-erase learning books, they completely stained the pages. I can't even get the stain off with Magic Eraser. The books (at least the pages she used them on) are ruined. These are terrible. I'm going to contact Expo and voice my opinion. STICK WITH REGULAR EXPO DRY ERASE MARKERS unless you want your surfaces stained and ruined.

For me it is the green and the orange that just seem too light, maybe those were a bit too dry right out of the box? Someone else said the green was great and the blue was too light, my blue is great, nice and dark. The yellow being what it is is not good for text if you want to read it, but for kids it is fine for coloring in areas of yellow.
One reviewer said the blue stained their dry-erase board. I've had lines drawn with the blue up on my board for several weeks and it erased fine today. Maybe it depends on the brand. Or maybe it is because I am using a brand-new white board that has never had any kind of cleaner used on it - some of those cleaners can cause the regular markers to stain worse. I have not tested the washability. . . |
