4.0 out of 5 stars Come Go with Expose
Expose perfected the Latin pop genre well before Jennifer Lopez ran it to the ground. Often produced by Lewis Martinee, their songs were bouncy, fun, and danceable. The average Joe Schmo couldn't name any of the members in this girl group, but who cares? What mattered was the music, and on this hits collection, we're treated to the group's hits, which have enough hooks...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad - not that good either.
Thought I would get album versions on some tracks but no...
Thought I would get 12" original remixes but no...
Newly remixed versions of tracks that should be their original 12" versions. THAT was a dissapointment. They even left out some songs that were their great songs late 80's. And why even save playtime on a greatest hits album.... 65 min on 15...

Expose perfected the Latin pop genre well before Jennifer Lopez ran it to the ground. Often produced by Lewis Martinee, their songs were bouncy, fun, and danceable. The average Joe Schmo couldn't name any of the members in this girl group, but who cares? What mattered was the music, and on this hits collection, we're treated to the group's hits, which have enough hooks to sink the Titanic. "Come Go With Me," "Point of No Return," and "Seasons Change" are such well-crafted pop ditties that recall those glorious late 1980s. Expose struggled to keep the hits coming in later years, but this hits collection is a solid collection of above-average pop tunes well worth a listen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally Exposed to Expose, August 3, 2003
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I had heard of Expose since they were being played on my favorite hits radio station where I live and I liked their whole "get up and dance" motive with infectious songs such as "Point Of No Return" and "Come Go With Me", I didn't get serious with their music because well...I was naive. Now, being the mature teenager I am (cough) I brought the Greatest Hits collection at a used CD store and was amazed at such ignored talent!
Expose covers a wide range of styles, from pop, Latin, R&B and soul and they do a heck of a job doing it. Consisting of lovely women Ann, Janette and Gioia (who later left the group due to a throat problem and replaced by Kelly) these women crafted '80's freestyle and then some. I know some bigger fans of Expose say that this album is missing some songs but in all resepct it is a very well put together Greatest Hits, and one of the best greatest hits collections I own.
This album displays some pretty soild BIG hits, the upbeat, thumping "Point Of No Return" to the clubby, "Come Go With Me" and the soulful strut of "Let Me Be The One" and my all-time fave the sultry ballad "Seasons Change" as well as the driving, chanting vibe of "Exposed to Love" all from their debut "Exposure". Then there's the stuff from their sophomore album, "What You Don't Know". The big band, Latin sound of the can't-get-out-of-your-head title track, the strong message R&B/hip-hop influence of "Tell Me Why", sappy but sweet "When I Looked At Him" and the slow, begging song of "Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue" hit the spot as well. Then there is the soft jam of "I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me" that eerily sounds like something Wilson Phillips would have done that I hadn't heard since I was a little thing! Aah! It's a sweet song that showcases Diane Warren's writing best. All in all a pretty worthy effort for these songs alone.
The remixes, I hate to say, aren't that incredible, I think they could have done without those (except for "I Specialize In Love" which was also a winner) and added some notable non-hits or something they did live, they also could have done without the new songs "I'll Say Goodbye For The 2 Of Us" and "End Of The World" which aren't even up to par with their Greatest.
My friends don't even know about Expose, which is a shame because they had some pretty awesome songs. What ever happened to them? They would be welcomed in today's music world because dance music is so popular now. Oh, wells I have another great CD to listen to and another new group that I like! :)

4.0 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure, April 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I can't really say I am a big fan of pop music nowadays. Most of it I consider just complete useless and disposable. Too much of it is based on image and too synthesized and artificial. Pop music today isn't nothing like pop music ten years ago. One of my favorite pop groups back in the '80s (when pop wasn't a complete embarassment to admit to enjoying) was Expose. Their songs were incredibly catchy and fun to dance to. Personally I'll take them over Destiny's Child. I absolutely loved their debut album. I loved "Point of No Return" and I still do to this very day. Expose may have been no Joni Mitchell but their music was fun. I also loved their ballads too. I wished they had included "As Long As I Can Dream" which was the most beautiful ballad the trio had sung. It actually moved me and I don't say that about most pop ballads. Still the group's cover of "End of the World" made up for the absence of "As Long As I Can Dream". "End of the World" is absolutely breathtaking to listen to. I also love "I'll Say Good Bye For the Two of Us". The only ballad that I was iffy on was their hit "Seasons Change". It isn't bad but I feel that their latter ballads were vastly superior. My favorite dance song from the trio is "What You Don't Know". I have always loved that song and always will. Although they are no longer around, I still enjoy listening to Expose from time to time.

4.0 out of 5 stars The origianl latin dance, March 27, 2002
By
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)

If you thought Jlo and Ricky Martin brought the latin dance music to life, you r dead wrong, cos Expose is the original latin dance divas. From their very 1st album in 1987 with hits like Exposed To Love, Point Of No Return and Come Go With Me, the ladies of Expose showed a flair for dance music that is interlaced with strong basslines and rhythms with the fine touch of latin music. This sound very much carried through to their 1989 with songs like Tell Me why and What You Don't Know. In fact, they were so good the Pet shop Boys got their producers and did an Expose sound-alike Domino Dancing.

Of cos, the dance - ballad combo was the right format for radio in the 80's and the gals had some of their most memorable hits in this department. Their super #1 smash Seasons Change, the Top-10 When I Looked At Him and the Diane Warren-penned Your Baby Never Looked Good In Blue and I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me were their best ballads. Unfortunately, as with most shakeup in members, the loss of one original singer on their 3rd album due to throat surgery also saw their last hit I'll Never Get over You.

Absent from this collection is their Top 40 hit I Wish The Phone Would Ring from their last album Expose. Instead the record company opted to put a remix of I Specialize In Love and two more remixes of Point Of No Return and Come Go With Me. Overall, a good way to get all these songs on one CD especially if you had them on cassettes in the past. Get this rather than the other hits collection Arista released.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still a hot dance album of Expose's best hits!, November 7, 2004
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
When I saw that this album was coming out in 1995, I went nuts! Expose had a strong amount of hits through three albums! The 1987 debut is well represented with Come Go With ME, Seasons Change, Let Me Be The One, the heavily played Point of No Return (I still hear it today sometimes) and others. The second album continued that momentum with its hits. The third album, despite a new member, showed their maturity while keeping the dance edge intact. This album is very chronologically done in order and they remember to list the chart positions of the songs. The remake of the late Skeeter Davis' End of the World is very well done. When I heard about Skeeter's passing in September this year, it made me think about Expose's remake. Gioia still sounds good today with the solo album she made this year. The other two, I wonder where they are. But as a girl group, Expose made that Miami dance sound so prevalent in the pop music landscape in the '80s. The songs here make you feel like you're on the beach in Florida up and down the coast! Lewis Martinee created some very solid dance songs for the group during the late '80s. This is still a hot album and sample for anyone who's never heard of them before.

5.0 out of 5 stars All of the major hits are here., April 25, 2005
By
Gillian T. Barker (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
One of the most celebrated girl groups of all time, shows why they earned that ranking here. It covers all of their first three albums, giving the debut Exposure (1987) the most track representations here. They are the greatest girl group of the 1980s I feel & quite possibly the best since the Supremes.
It has all of the big hits, Come Go With Me, Seasons Change, & I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me. It truly is the lesser hits that make this collection great though, & shows why they're one of the greatest girl groups around. Point of No Return, Let Me Be The One, What You Don't Know, Exposed to Love, I Specialize in Love, I'll Say Goodbye for the 2 of Us, & Tell Me Why all show off their vocal range very well as well as their knack for penning unforgettable songs, even if not chart toppers.
I'd like to have seen them fill out the album with some other material instead of the remixes, but the other 13 songs are so good that it's just a minor issue. The booklet enclosed has photos of the band & info on each of the songs which is really nicely done. Master Hits is a good compliment to this album because some tunes not accounted for here are over there, but it leaves off a lot of good material from this album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great songs from start to finish., August 2, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
Here are the songs with a brief description of the sound and content. Come Go with me: Think of summer and think of fast cars. Manic Latin Flavor and hectic percussion compliments sweet sounding voice of Jeanette Jurado. This song was the first top 10 hit for Expose and charted at # 5 on Billboard. Point of No Return: Strong bass line will get you up and dancing. Let me be the one: Featuring soulful vocals of Gioia Bruno. Powerful crossover song. R&B feel charted at #7 on Billboard. Seasons Change: A poignant song that you can listen to today and reflect on the past. A sad yet comforting song. Expose's #1 hit. Exposed to Love: A freestyle latin influenced dance song, a club hit reaching #19 on the billboard dance charts. What you Don't Know: Follow up to the successful debut album. Features a brass and rock sound. Great catchy tune. Reached #8 on Billboard and was awarded as a Gold record by the RIAA. Tell me Why: A dancable pop song about Gang violence. Reached # 9 on Billboard. I'll say Goodbye for the two of us: A new ballad sung by Jeanette. No other vocals are present. Did not chart but was considered a bubbling under song by Billboard. I specialize in love: A remixed version of their song on the Expose album. Reached #19 on club play charts. End of the World: A remake with an adult comtemporary appeal. Sung by Jeanette and features Ann Curless talking in verse 2. When I looked at him: A ballad with a jazz feel. Fretless bass was one of the main instruments in this song. This song reached #10 on Billboard. Your baby never looked good in blue: A song written by Dianne Warren. Didn't make the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100, but did make the top ten on adult contemporary charts. I'll never get over you getting over me: A great song written by Dianne Warren. A great song about breaking up. Reached #8 on Billboard.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dance Divas Best Of The Best!!!!, December 14, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is this the definitive collection for fans of the 80's dance and ballad chanteuses. The club classics"Come Go With Me" and "Point Of No Return" are remixed here for 90's club goers. And two new songs "I'll Say Goodbye For The Two Of Us" and a remake of the 60's tune "End Of The World" are instant Expose' must haves. The girls career fell victim to sappy adult contemporary tunes over their dance styles. They changed just as the more techno styles of the 90's started and with the right producers the girls even now without Gioia, would still be enjoying success. That point is arguable yes but they would not have faded as fast as they did. Now no longer a group and Arista and others trying to put together new girls for a new group by the same name, we the fans should revel in the beauty that was and will always be Expose'. Jeanette,Ann,Gioia, and even Kelly. The true divas of the group Expose' and the only deserving ones for that name.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great 80's group, August 9, 2006
This review is from: Expose - Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
This is yet another great 80's girl group. They kept making hits left and right for quite awhile. When you think of the 80's cool dance music, you can't help but think of Expose. They also had some awesome love songs as well.

I think my favorite songs by Expose are "Come Go With Me" and "Point Of No Return". Another good song, from later in their career, is "In Walked Love". This CD is a great collection of some of their best hits. Another must for the 80's music collector.
