4.0 out of 5 stars Coco goes the J. Lo/Mariah route to success...
This disc should position Coco for success in the US. It has a few select tracks that should obtain some serious airplay. The first single "No Doubt" isn't bad at all, just vaguely similar to something J. Lo had on a past album. The real stand out on this disc is definitely "So good". Its playful, and made for the current r&b leaning US radio. The other stand out is...

2.0 out of 5 stars Too Distracting and Typical Bubblegum
First off, I'm asian. I used to be a big fan of Asian pop back in my day. I still like some of the old ballads. The thing that gets me is when non-english speakers singers try to sing English. Sure she lived in the US for a while, but her accent is distracting. They always sing slowly, and they tend to sound forced. Even the fastbeat "No Doubt" sort of slows down on...

A few key tracks, and some well planned remixes can make this one go all the way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Way better than her last one, June 27, 2006
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
This isnt a great album, i mean its not really a 5 star album but i gave it 5 stars because compaired to her last english cd "just no toher way", this one is like Coco's holy grail. This one is part pop, part R&B. for one thing, i would say that the song belly dance being called bublegum is a joke. its like a beyonce-type song, (think baby boy). The song "all around the world" is the theme song for the korean version of Charlies Angels 2 and its not a bad song. I liked it alot more when i saw her proform it live. Rock it is not bad. its catchy R&B. So Good is a very sexual song about "crawling on all fours" and "riding it all night". there are some boring slow songs. the song "cool" is a sad attempt at being clever and humorous. its about relationships and compairing them to making movies. "gotta clue" is a good catchy R&B song with a nice hook. if im being personally honest, i would say that this cd in NO way reminds me of britney spears. At least not the newer britney. Newer britney has (if i dare say it) edgyer material on her "in the zone" cd than coco has. i would say this cd reminds me more of a mix of jessica simpson and Jlo with a splash of beyonce (without being beat heavy). coco has a very nice voice and i respect her for that. good songs, good voice, hot babe, whats not to like?

5.0 out of 5 stars Ready to Compete, March 29, 2005
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
CoCo Lee. Many people in North America would hear this name and have no idea what talent hides behind it. Coco Lee has been referred to as an Asian Mariah Carey, a voice unique and filled with emotion and power. Exposed is CoCo's second English album to date ( her first having been released in 1999) It was not until the movie Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon met our eyes that CoCo truly got noticed in our culture. She performed the theme song to the movie "A Love Before Time" and won an Oscar for it. Since then CoCo has remained hidden from the English speaking population releasing Asian records.

Exposed is a sensual, smooth and playful album to say the least. Coco has taken many of her influences and melded them together on this effort. She has also grown as a writer (having co-written 8 of the 12 original songs).

The standout tracks include:
-The first single "No Doubt"
-"So Good"
-"Hush"
-"Music we Make"
-"Magic Words"
-"Touch"

Coco has poured her heart into her second attempt to break into the American/Canadian market...it's a shame she hasn't got the needed support to do so for once she does break in, she'll be tough to knock out against the divas of today...If you're looking for a new talent, or you're wondering where she's been hiding the last 5 years, CoCo Lee is here! Give her a chance, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

4.0 out of 5 stars Give her a chance, January 16, 2006

When I hear her songs, I thought she was an African American singer. Her voice is strong yet silky. I don't know what the other reviewer is thinking. Although she doesn't have as much of a range as Mariah Carey (who does??) I would compare Coco to Mariah's level but she sounds like Jessica Simpson. This album is very hip and it is very easy to bump her tracks in your car. My favorites are Hush, So Good, Rock It. Its unfortunate she probably wont get as much play as she deserves.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth-buying Album for Sure., August 8, 2005
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
Billboard, almost the hardest field for Asian to enter. However, she keeps working on it. After staging on the Oscar in Kodak Theater, she went on the top of her career. She didn't release her album after the fame came from everywhere. After 3 yrs, introduce "Exposed."

Different from the 1st pop-album, Just No Other Way, "Exposed" introduces more music styles than the last one. You can enjoy much more Oriental materials in this album. "Step in", "Hush", "Belly Dance" are full of the Asian-style.

Pop music would never go out of the market. So here comes "No Doubt", "Cool", "Magic Word", etc. "No Doubt" is a good party song. "Cool" is a typical Korean pop song, not my taste. "Magic Word" is the only ballad in this album, not quite common in CoCo Lee's style in the past. However, it's totally CoCo style ballad, I miss it a lot.

The new album got some new try. In "So Good" and "Touch", you can taste a little bit Janet-style from her recent album, "All for You" and "Damita Jo." She actually ruled out her own new style!

"Music We Make" is my own favorite song in this album. The lyris is written by CoCo Lee. It shows the humanity. Thru the music, she expects to spread love all around the world.

From the opening strings heard on the song "Step In", I knew this album would be an exciting and fabulous listen! "Exposed" lives up to its title because this album certainly has her trademark "East Meet West" sounds. It is immediately clear that CoCo have major control on this project because it does not sounds or feel extremely similar her previous English album, "Just No Other Way." This is a good thing because CoCo's charisma shine through on every song here. CoCo co-wrote 8 of the 13 tracks on "Exposed."

Here is my rating of each song.

1. "Step In" 5/5
2. "No Doubt" feat. Blaaze (The lead single) 5/5
3. "Gotta Clue" 5/5
4. "Hush" 5/5
5. "So Good" (The second single) 5/5
6. "Touch" 5/5
7. "Rock It" 5/5
8. "All Around The World (The third single) 5/5
9. "Belly Dance" 5/5
10. "Cool" 4.5/5
11. "Music We Make 5/5
12. "No Doubt" feat. Joon Park 5/5
13. "Magic Words" 5/5

Every song features lush production and rich arrangements. CoCo's vocals are tantilizing to say the least. The albums' only ballad, "Magic Worlds", she gaves a moving performance. "Hush" is a smooth, lush song about keeping a secret love affair secret until the time is right. The second single from this album, "So Good" is the most seductive songs yet. It only surpassed by this album standout slow jam, "Touch" and the uptempo song, "Belly Dance." "Rock It" is the most of Hip-Hop of all the songs on the album aside from "No Doubt." This is certainly a club banger! It is flirty and good song to blast in your car or your headphones. "Gotta Clue" is about her figuring out her lover is cheating but he is slick, he does not she has a clue. It is a shame this album only gained hype on the internet because several years after its release, it is still ahead of its time. Overall, the album is as fresh and inviting as it was the day of its release. Of CoCo's two English albums thus far, this is the one to own! If you are a fan of Pop/R&B and/or Urban/Dance-pop at all, you will thoroughly enjoy this album! "Exposed" is a solid, well crafted, catchy five gold star release! I am egarly awaiting her third English album! I can only hope it will be as fabulous as this album is. I hope this review is helpful to you.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
first off, i'm not 13. i'm in my 20s... anyway, Coco is Coco and Mariah is Mariah- they are very different! I like Coco for her unique voice and singing style. in this album, there are plenty of catchy songs, and Coco did a pretty good job. however, she still hasn't demonstrated the uniqueness that she possesses as in her mandarin albums. hopefully Coco will have a chance to release her 3rd album, something with less hip-hop influence...
