5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Star's for Vince Neil
Ok the former Motley Crue band member is not the crue. This wonderful audio cd is filled with true ballets of Vince. Vince has always had his own style. The syle of some of the former Motley Crue band hits can be dirrectly traced back to Vince Neil.(((( Doctor Feel Good )))) for example.

3.0 out of 5 stars Debut good time solo slab - 3.5 stars
As I write this it seems a long time ago that Motley Crue and Vince Neil fell out. Well it was , but ... oh lets forget the history lesson - what's on the disc?

Ultimately a lighter version of the Crue, some of the darker underbelly being filtered out in the never ending search for the next implant recipient. But that's not to say the record doesn't work. A...

Released in 1993 by vince neil. This cd has been out of print since 1999. They sold over 3 million copie retail world wide. Hit song Look in her eyes went to number one in london on the billboard charts. Fine Fine Wine was ranked # 5 on the billboard chart's in spain and in london as high as number #23.
Dont think for a second that this cd will be the "Classic" 80's Motley Crue sound. It is an advanced sound or a rebirth of the sound.
So in closing if you liked the sound and style of motley crue you shoul pick up a copy of this cd today.
5 STARS TO VINCE NEIL..............

4.0 out of 5 stars Steve Stevens all the way, June 23, 2008
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
For any Steve Stevens fan, this album is a must. This album will definitely rock the boots of any rock guitar player. Songs like "Sister of Pain", "The Edge" are the usual Vince fare backed up by some stellar guitar playing and tight backing by the band. Definitely a good buy.

Solid debut as a solo act for Vince Neil. Im guessing when the misguided Crue heard Neils solo meterial is why they got him backin the band. Neil's solo stuff picks up right where the crue left off, Motley Crue's self titled album after they fired Vince was definatly not up to par. Thank god's Neil is back in the Crue now and they are rockin better than ever!

4.0 out of 5 stars 3.5 stars - a solid solo debut from the voice of Motley Crue, January 15, 2011
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil released his solo debut - Exposed - in 1993, during the brief period he was on the outs with the band. Neil went all-out with this one, bringing in hotshot guitarist Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and getting songwriting support from Tommy Shaw and Jack Blades (fresh off a successful run with Damn Yankees) and Philip Soussan (Ozzy, Billy Idol).

Exposed sounds exactly like you'd expect it to. It's essentially a Motley Crue album along the lines of Girls Girls Girls. It's melodic, has a good hard rock backbone, and is about as sleazy as Neil himself. I'd write it off as shallow and self-serving if that wasn't exactly why Exposed is so much fun. The singles "Sister of Pain" and "You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)" are fun enough, but I also enjoyed "Can't Change Me" and the cover of the Sweet's "Set Me Free." With all the songwriting support Neil had, the album is really well put together for a hair metal release.

It's not essential by any means, and was already dated as soon as it was released (though it was fairly successful for a while), but if you're a fan of Motley Crue and the whole Hollywood hair metal sound, Exposed is a pretty enjoyable disc. It's cheap too, so you can write it off as a guilty pleasure!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Plain Different., March 28, 2009

I personally loved this album. As far as comparing it to the Crue, it's not better, it's not worse, it's just plain different. This album is not as dark as the Crue albums, actually it's more of a "good times" and "partying" type album. I don't think there's a bad song on it. Well worth owning.

After Vince was fired/quit (depends who you're asking) Motley Crue in 1992 he put a band together with and toured and released two albums as the Vince Neil band, a solo act. Vince's old band were in fact surprised that he released music before they did and thought he had no interest in music anymore. With his debut album, Neil proved that not only he still cared about music (he also appeared in a movie and competed in Indy Racing for some time) but that he could also deliver an excellent album on his own. Vince Neil's debut album ignored much of the musical scene that was going on at that time. It's almost as if Grunge never happened which is funny as this album was released in 1993 when releasing a Glam album was a suicidal musical direction. Some may wonder if Neil's solo album sounds like Motley. The answer is yes and no. Being that Vince had such a huge stamp on Motley Crue albums with his vocals it doesn't sound too far off from a Crue album but it's also different from the Crue at the same time. In a way Vince's solo debut sounds like what you would expect, a "Girls, Girls, Girls" kind of feel and more of Vince's own style.

"Look In Her Eyes" is a little heavier than your average Motley Crue, it's in the vein of "Dr. Feelgood" but is much faster and it's more of a picking riff whereas Mick Mars has a bluesy element to his playing. It's a strong track to open Exposed with. "Sister of Pain" has a lot of attitude and rocks, great song and heavy too. "Can't have Your Cake" and "Fine Fine Wine" don't hold up as well as some of the other songs on Exposed and while they're certainly not bad, they're nothing to get excited about. "The Edge" is a heavy rocker that features nice guitar by Steve Stevens, this is one of the better songs on the album. "Can't Change Me" is the obligatory ballad and is a good one at that. It kind of reminds me of "Time To Change" from Dr. Feelgood, I also feel this ballad is stronger than the other ballad "Forever" which is also the album's closing track. "Living Is A Luxury" is a highlight of Exposed, the song is a bit on the slower rock side but it's still edgy and it has some excellent lyrics. The conclusion shows amazing guitar work that even sounds a little Jazz inspired, the sirens and added noises I The single "You're Invited (But Your Friend Can't Come)" is pure Vince, it's fun catchy and the lyrics are over the top silly fun. It's energetic and it's an anthem, this may be the best song on Exposed. "Getting Hard" is one of the most fun songs on Exposed, sweet guitar work, Vince is on fire on this one and the chorus is great. Another highlight of Exposed.

Vince solo band sounds great. Vince himself on vocals is great but the backing musicians are what make this album a good one. Steve Stevens is a talented guitar player and proves himself here, solid riffs and great solos. Vikki Foxx is a solid rock drummer and delivers. The album credits Robbie Crane on Bass and Dave Marshall on rhythm guitars but none of those musicians actually played on Exposed.

For fans of Motley Crue and Vince Neil, Exposed is worth the buy. It's a solid and very enjoyable album. Vince Neil solo sounds a lot more like Motley Crue than Motley Crue without Vince that's for sure (Motley `s 1994 self-titled album is a completely different band). Neil's second album, 1995's Carved In Stone is also a good album, I like it to a lesser extend as I feel it had too much of a modern production at the time and wasn't entirely true to Vince Neil. Yet I feel Carved In Stone is a good sophomore solo release as it's very different from what you'd expect out of Vince. Since then we've had one more solo release from Vince, 2010's Tattoos and Tequilas but Exposed remains Vince's best solo effort and the only one that would consider essential to a Crue fan. If you're a Crue fan I strongly suggest you check this out, you won't be disappointed. 4/5 stars, recommended for Crue fans and those who like the Glam-Metal sound.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vince Neil Rocks This!!, April 10, 2011
This review is from: Exposed (Audio CD)
A phenomenal record by Motley's front man. Vince cranks the the roof off this baby. Steve Stevens is great and so is the rest of the band. "Sister Of Pain" is a fav and very Crue-like. Must have record for any 80's hair metal fans. You won't be disappointed. 5 stars all the way!

A range of melodies in the vocal lines really lifts this party album and the surrounding band is tight. Acrimony ended up tearing the band apart later but her all is rosy. The guitar playing of Steve Stevens is as distinctive as usual and th guys axe bleeds all over tracks like, well most of them actually. Perhaps the most typical tracks here for prospective buyers to try to hear are :- Sister of Pain, Living is a Luxury, Gettin' Hard and the lead cut Look in her Eyes, last mentioned having a particularly 'Steve Stevens' guitar feel.

Motley fans NEED this while generic hard rock fans could do a lot worse. But don't pay too much for it.
