The seventy-eight contributors come from the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, Australia, and New Zealand, and from many denominations, including Anglican, Baptist, Brethren, Methodist, Nazarene, Presbyterian, and Reformed. They represent the best in evangelical scholarship committed to the divine inspiration, complete trustworthiness, and full authority of the Bible.
The Expositors Bible Commentary uses the New International Version for its English text, but also refers freely to other translations and to the original languages. Each book of the Bible has, in addition to its exposition, an introduction, outline, and bibliography. Notes on textual questions and special problems are correlated with the expository units; transliteration and translation of Semitic and Greek words make the more technical notes accessible to readers unacquainted with the biblical languages. In matters where marked differences of opinion exist, commentators, while stating their own convictions, deal fairly and irenically with opposing views.

This review is from: The Expositor's Bible Commentary (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel) (Hardcover)
I was getting ready to write a sermon out of Jeremiah and asked another preacher if he could recommend a commentary and this series was one of them. This is one of the most direct and poignant commentaries I have ever read. Some commentaries, though still good, have a lot of "fluff" to them. This commentary on the other hand did an excellent job of getting to explaining the meaning of the text and giving great background and contextual information. I plan to get the whole set!

This review is from: The Expositor's Bible Commentary (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel) (Hardcover)
This is the first time I have used a text book with the NIV translation as the base. This book has been a good text book and very well researched. Do recommend this book to anyone needing to further their studies in this subject matter.
