About the Author

Guillermo I. Racines was born and educated in Quito, Ecuador. He fought bulls in South America and Spain before coming to the United States where he spent over twenty years inventing and compiling this Expressionary. He lives in Emmaus, Pennsylvania with his wife Audrey.

Paul E. Egelhaaf taught English in Mexico City. Born in Philadelphia, raised in Southern California, he returned East to get a Master’s degree at Temple University. He met Guillermo Racines when he moved to Allentown, Pennsylvania. The Expressionary is the happy result of that meeting.

This book is a creative creation, into which the authors clearly poured a great deal of thought, energy, and life experience. You can find any expression or idiomatic type language translated. This book will be invaluable to students of either Spanish or English, in that it uncovers and explains subtle nuances in the languages.

If you desire to become bilingual in English and Spanish, I strongly suggest you pick up Expressionary/Expresionario by Guillermo Racines and Paul Egelhaaf. This book is a version of a Spanish-English dictionary that translates expressions instead of just words and helpfully explains the subtleties of difference in colloquialisms among different Spanish-speaking towns. A great tool especially for Spanish and English-as-a-second language teachers.

I'm studying English at the university and therefore, I bought this book. To tell the truth, it's a bilingual book (english-spanish) where people can improve their English. It covers a lot of everyday expressions which are helpful for people to communicate with others in an effective way. It's easy to use it and all you have to do is to study this expressionary little by little and speak english like native people do. In a nutshell, this book is a must. English students will be able to keep their hand in!
