The best introduction to Expressionism,
By Claude Reich (Florianopolis, Brazil and Paris, France) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Expressionists (World of Art) (Paperback)
This book is the best introduction to the major artistic movement in Germany in the early XXth century. It covers all the main currents, from the Blaue Reiter (Kandinsky, Marc...) to the Brücke (Kirchner, Heckel, Müller...)and the New Objectivity (Grosz, Dix, Bekmann...). The text is clear, easy to read, unburdened by any useless erudition, and the illustrations are numerous, even though -as is the case with all the volumes in this collection- mostly in black and white.
