The evidence is in—and it's good news! Lots of convenience foods are nutritious and can help with weight control.
Manufacturers, supermarket managers, and restaurants have become more sensitive to combining good nutrition with good taste. As a result, we can now buy a great variety of single-serving frozen, canned, processed and prepared convenience foods of premium quality. Breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees are all there on the shelves, to say nothing of the snacks for those of us who also enjoy "grazing."
Our nutritional picture is often focused much too narrowly. It is time to evaluate foods on the basis of volume, balance, and interactions with other foods and with our bodies. Instead of worrying about what we will die from, let us now center in on how to live better.
