This is some good old school stuff. But check out the new cd by the soul survivors available on cd baby and Itunes. I just saw these guys in AC live with the drifters and Kenny Vance and the Planotones., What a treat and a pleasant surprise.

As a teenager back in the 60's heavily involved in a cover band, I had worn out my vinyl copy playing each track over and over to duplicate the music and lyrics. 40 years later, I still have the record, but it's all but unplayable. When I saw the CD of Expressway to Your Heart, I immediately grabbed it. Playing it was like stepping into the Wayback Machine. This is pure music of yesterday. No harmonizer, sampling, or multitracks. Many of the tracks feature the Hammond B3 organ with a Leslie Sound Cabinet out in front. This is a distinctive sound that is hard to find today. Vocals are great and feature tight harmonies; very Rascal-ish sounding. There are a couple of tracks I didn't like then and still don't like today. I'm clueless as to why they were included on the original record; these are Taboo India, and The Rydle. Neither track fits into the ablum and I skip over them. On the CD, there are 3 tracks that did not appear on the original vinyl copy; these are the extended verion of Explosion, Impossible Mission and Poor Man's Dream. With the exception of Explosion, the other two are forgettable. Playing this CD brings back really great memories of my late teenage years and playing in the band.
