5.0 out of 5 stars *Majestic*, January 4, 2010
This review is from: Exquisite Corpse (Audio CD)
This is an amazing EP which I listen to quite frequently. One of my favorite pieces of music from the decade. And I've had the privilege to see this inspiring band live many times and they are wonderful..
"Stars" is beautifully ambient that puts you into a dream-like haze.
"Elephants" is a great up-tempo song that makes you want to dance with your shadow.
"Billie Holiday"s a pretty acoustic ballad that transforms into Mary Wells' "My Guy". Beautifully done, Warpaint makes it their own, giving it new life.
"Beetles" is pure magic. Starting off as a dance-song with heavy rhythm, soon morphing into a hypnotic break with haunting vocals and starting right back into making you want to shake your ass again. Perfectly executed.
Then, their is "Burgundy" with it's intro that makes you feel like you've been transported into the Ethers. Maybe, my favorite song on this EP.. Just amazing.
"Krimson" is the cherry on top. Hypnotizing you with a wonderful intro that transforms into another great 'shake your ass' song.
Overall, I think this EP is brilliant and cannot wait for Warpaint's full-length album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously, no review? Amazing EP, Amazing Band, September 7, 2011
First of all, hi. If you already own "The Fool" and you like warpaint, stop reading this review right now and just go ahead and get this. It's worth the price and it's almost as long as a full-length album anyway.

Wow, this is incredible. I am actually quite surprised that there are no reviews on this album. I could have sworn someone had reviewed this. Anyway, this EP is special, because none of the songs on this are on the album, "The Fool." Each song is good and there are no fillers. NO FILLERS. I swear.

I have owned The Fool for a while and i've heard great things about Exquisite Corpse so I went ahead and payed the straight up 6 dollars to get it. It was hard considering i'm the person that likes to wait for an album to go on sale. Lets just say I hardly buy EPs. BUT WOW, this is wonderful. It catches you right from the beginning and takes you on a journey right to the last 30 seconds of the last song. Utter brilliance. The lead singer's, Emily Kokal's, hypnotic voice along with the dreamy, sometimes very intense guitar really gets your attention. And lets not forget the bass and drums, always pumping in the background driving the song on.

Don't get me wrong, not all songs are loud and pumping - Warpaint has their soft side as well. The album starts out with soft eerie guitars and Emily Kokal's voice floating over the top of the beautiful arrangements that Warpaint creates. I'm not big on female singers, so they have to be very good to get my attention, but heck this is a four-piece all girl band and it rocks. So, yeah, stop listening to Ke$ha or Lady Gaga or whatever the crap Girl Singer music your listening to right now. Just STOP it. If you want to listen to girls really just downright rocking it - well buy this. flip yeah.
