Product Description

Singing Bowls are an ancient Tibetan meditation tools. The pure sounds produced when the rim is rubbed by the mallet is said to put the brain into a meditative state. The vibrations of the singing bowls have the same wavelength found in the brainwaves that produce feelings of relaxation. Today they are employed worldwide both within and without these spiritual traditions, for meditation, trance-induction, relaxation, healthcare, personal well-being and religious practice. The bowls are handmade in Nepal, and are made of Panchaloga: literally translated from Sanskrit as Five Metals: the metal alloys contain copper, tin, zinc, iron and other metals. These bowls are hand made and etched, therefore the bowl you receive may not be identical to the one pictured on the product picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little different, April 6, 2010

This is an excellent bowl with beautiful sound, but it is a little different from the usual in that it has an upper lip that you cannot make a sound by rubbing. You must rub the rod around the upper portion of the bowl, but below and not touching the upper (slightly recessed) lip for you to be able to make it sound.

When I first got it I thought it could only be rung, as I could not get it to 'sing.' I had to take it to friends who had signing bowls to help me figure out how to make it work right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Tibetan singing bowl, fantastic seller, May 5, 2010

I purchased 2 of these singing bowls. They each have a unique appearance, quite lovely. I prefer using a hard felt drum beater to produce the most pleasing sound, holding the bowl in my flat hand. The sound is very nice. I use the singing bowls in Independent Nichiren Practice, and also just to hear the sound. I have been told that striking a singing bowl will chase away negative energies - so it seems to be - brightens my mood immediately. I communicated back and forth with the sellers, who are extremely helpful and kind. This is a good price for a singing bowl of this size and quality. They were delivered earlier than expected!

I am well pleased with this; it makes a wonderful sound, and it is easy to get the bowl to "sing".

I have gotten it to produce three distinct tones, one low, one high, and one of the two combined, and I've only had it two days. Having never owned one of these bowls before, I don't know if that's exceptional or not, but it pleases me.

The bowl looks quite different from the one pictured, but I am very pleased with it.
Mine has designs etched into it instead of Tibetan symbols, but I actually like it better.

I think this is a good buy.
