A big improvement over debut album, May 7, 2003
This review is from: Extended Play Ep (Audio CD)
As a fan who was a little let down by Goldrush's debut album, I'm extremely pleased to see such a strong comeback with this release. "Don't Bring Me Down" is not bad, in fact it contains several great songs. However, as a whole the album lacked a certain magic for me that is present on the early singles such as "Love Is Here" and the original release of "Same Picture" (with "No Change Given" b-side). That magic is back here and better than ever. All 5 of the proper song tracks here are very very good. "Counting Song" is the best track Goldrush have ever made. "I Know" is simply beautiful. "Let You Down" is a new cool version different from that on the debut album. "What I Thought" is another great track that sounds like it would have been a single if it was from a full album (you don't usually release singles from e.p.'s). "Out Of Reach" has some very cool electronic noises going on. The really great thing about this release is that it is so stronge throughout, one good song after another. Highly recommended.
