Here are the Ides recorded live in 2002 and sounding absolutely spectacular. Since the group reunited in the 1990s with all original members (and they still perform today), this is not some one-off reunion show, but the sound of a band playing every bit as well as they have at any point in their long career. Lead singer and guitarist Jim Peterik's vocals are brilliant, as is the performance of the entire band. The set includes songs that Peterik co-wrote for Survivor and .38 Special, along with the Ides' first single (the almost-top 40 "You Wouldn't Listen," with lead vocals shared by Peterik and Larry Millas), a driving longer version of "Vehicle" and a note-perfect "L.A. Goodbye" with stunning harmonies. If you're only a casual fan of the Ides, pick up this CD and hear a band 35+ years on that is still in its prime. You'll then want to search out the rest of the band's rich catalogue. Kudos for the great price, too.

Who was firt? Ides of March or Chicago. It really doesn't matter. Perhaps there's a slight difference between them. The Ides of March produce an outstanding kind of musical mix that includes rock, naturally, some bits of jazz, and an evident contribution of soul. Plenty of instruments (saxophones, trumpets and others included) to enjoy plus a great leading voice. The live show is simply fantastic. You should have it!
