Actually a low-priced yet extremely efficient alternative to replacing an expensive Blackberry phone when the phone's charging port no long works! This is my second Blackberry 8830 through Cellular South since 2008, yet I was told that my warranty expired after it was replaced in May and that my expensive phone insurance ($4.95/month plus tax) did not cover the charging port. Where did that leave me? Out of over $500 for two USELESS Blackberry 8830 phones because they would not charge. After much frustration, I decided to fight back. I decided to log into my AMAZON account and search exclusively for an external battery charger. LOOK WHAT I FOUND! It arrived today (quite speedily) and I now have two fully charged batteries. My previously "worthless" phones that I was told by Cellular South that I HAD to replace are now working because the only problem is the obviously INFERIOR charging port. After doing lots of online searching, I found that I am not the only one with the problem. I am not finished with my cellular phone company however and do plan to take this matter to a higher level.

Enough about them, this REVIEW IS TO LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT THIS EXTERNAL BATTERY CHARGER WORKS, IT IS INEXPENSIVELY PRICED, PLUS IT INCLUDES THE CHARGER JUST IN CASE I NEED AN EXTRA ONE ONCE I HAVE A BLACKBERRY THAT CHARGES. If you are like me, you do a lot with your BlackBerry; phone calls, emails, SMS and BlackBerry Messenger messaging, connecting via Facebook or other social networking clients, surfing the web, and finding where I need to go with my phone's GPS. All this activity is battery intensive. I found an extra battery or two, plus this external charger, is just what is needed to keep up with all the use I put my phone to. Through Amazon, this is a very cost effective solution to constant, on-the-go communications. The charger will work with both the included OEM power supply and your car adapter as well. This is a "Must Have" accessory!

I love it because it;s highly potable and can be used abrod by simply plugging in to any USB port.

This is a cheaply made product, and it fell apart after only a couple of weeks of use. I wish that I had read the negative reviews because I had exactly the same experience that other negative reviewers had. The connection to the electric cord completely detached from the bed of the charger making the product useless.

I thought I was getting a deal due to the price of this charger. I realize now, that it is a rip-off. I read the reviews before the purchase and saw comments for both good and bad, but I decided to try my luck. Unfortunately, luck was not on my side. I removed the battery charging bed and the wall charger from the (very small) package to test it to see if it worked. I was able to use it ONE time! You have to insert the connector of the wall charger (which comes with a blackberry) into the battery charging bed (which they show as the product). When I tried to insert the connecter of the battery charger bed, the point of connection went into the charging bed never to be seen again! I would NOT suggest purchasing this product. It was a waste of time and money. I also didn't like that you could not track the package and determine when it should be received. I ended up purchasing another (more expensive) external battery charger from a REPUTABLE brick-and-mortar dealer and it has worked wonderfully. It also came with pieces to convert for use internationally and you can charge another device using a USB cord. I have to repeat my view: I would NOT buy this product. Put your money towards something with better quality.

This item simply acts as a drop-in adapter between the micro-usb on the end of the charger cord and the battery connections on the end of the battery. Thus, it charges the battery exactly as it would be charged in the phone. Comes with a genuine Blackberry wall charger. Works equally well with the Blackberry car charger. It's a great low-cost alternative to repairing a non-functional micro-usb connector or replacing the whole phone, as well as being an easy to use charger for a spare battery. An LED on unit changes from red to green to indicate full charge. Worked perfectly for me charging both of my OE Blackberry 8330 batteries to 100%.

It works, but it's cheap so be careful with it. I have no idea when the battery is done charging because the light never changes color. I had it plugged in for 8 hrs (whereas my previous external charger only took 2 hrs to finish) until I realized that it was never going to change color from red to green. It does charge the battery, but how long it takes I will never know.

This device has saved me so much time with an extra battery and because of this baby I never go anywhere without my phone being fully charged. Great product!

When the charging port on my Blackberry 8830 failed like all the others, I read the reviews here and bought this device. In the 8 months I've had it, it's worked great. So, at a cost of about $8, that comes to a buck a month -- not bad.
However, about a month ago, I noticed that I had to take more care with how I positioned the cord (the one that runs from the wall outlet to the charging bed that the battery sits in) so that the power would keep flowing from the pronged end of the cord into the pronged hole in the charging bed. This became more and more temperamental, until a few days ago, the prongs in the cord and the prongs in the bed simply failed to connect any more. (Several reviews on this site have commented on the same issue).
I was about the throw the unit out, but, as a last resort, I tried this: I replaced the cord with the one that came with my Blackberry. Viola, the connection was perfect and the light came on immediately, indicating power was flowing! It's worked better than ever with the new cord.

So, my conclusion: the charging bed is not the problem -- it's the prongs in the cord that wear out. When they do, just use the orginal Blackberry wall charger to plug into the battery charging bed -- and you're good to go!

The USB port on my blackberry wasn't allowing connections because it was old, this external battery charger was a great alternative, I spent under ten dollars for this instead of having to buy a new phone or pay to have it repaired.
