This drive has proved to be outstanding as a drive and simple to use.

External drive arrived today and as stated in another review it is not an HP product. Instructions are laughable, poor translation that deals mainly with problems you will encounter, which should be a tip off.
This is not a plug and play device and neither my laptop nor netbook would recognize it to read from or write to. Plus you "may" need to use the additional USB power cable to run the drive. Doesn't make a lot of sense to use two USB ports for one item. Went through trouble shooting with no success, driver is dated 2001. On line search came up with a need to do registry edits to hopefully make it work. No thanks, back in the box and print the return label. Looks like I'll search further for an external burner to assist my laptop and watch DVDs on the netbook.
