I have an old CRT that is still in fine working order but is no longer in use. I have an ancient television that is finally breaking down. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a truly inexpensive new TV. I wanted to find a TV tuner so I could replace the old TV with the CRT.

This product really fit the bill. It was simple to set up and within 10 minutes I had cable TV on the monitor. Keep in mind you'll need speakers. Any speakers you can use on a PC should work, and they plug right into this box.

I am using it with a 17 inch trinitron CRT monitor and the picture is very nice at 1024 X 768. The box supports much higher res than that.

There are similar devices for a little less money that don't support higher resolutions. I went with this one so that I could connect an LCD monitor of higher res in the future if I wanted.

I did not try to connect this box with my computer because I was not looking for TV on my PC, so I can't comment on how easy or hard that is.

1) Remote control is a joke, confusing and unresponsive.
2) Volume control only work with TV selected as the source but when used with the line inputs, doesn't increase or decrease and is fixed.
3) Only one L/R line input force you to use only either the composite or component or Y/C (S-Video)which are selectable through the remote so doesn't make any sense if the manufacturer provide the option to roll through the several enclosed line video inputs but only one L/R audio input.
4) Doesn't have a closed caption decoder which should be included if it allow a PC monitor to work as a TV, I believe that's against the law.

Works nicely with cable antenna. High definitions are worth having. Menu can be boring and the remote does not follow any design pattern: instead of 123, 456, 789, 0 divided in four lines, it uses 1234, 5678, 90, this is inconvinient when you are in dark.

I bought this item to play videogames with my ps2 console and if you want to do the same I don't recommend the item.

After spending like 20 minutes trying to set up the console + tuner I only manage to get a blurry image and I was very disappointed!

The good thing is that the tuner has no delay when playing (which happens when you try to play on most tv tuner cards for the pc). But it is worth to spend some extra $ for something better.

As I said... Nice for watching tv, not for videogames!!!

The title and description have HD plastered all over them. Beware, this does NOT tune over the air HD digital television! It appears to have an old analog over the air tuner. So it is useless as a tuner in the US. My darn dog destroyed the package otherwise I would have returned it.

Almost perfect... There is an issue with another remote controllers.

Hooked it up and it worked right away. I'm using this to use an old CRT monitor for a TV and for video games. Works great for me!
