So much fun!,

This review is from: The Extinct Alphabet Book (Jerry Pallotta's Alphabet Books) (Paperback)
I remember reading this book in 2nd grade. It was so interesting to learn about these animals I'd never seen before. The pictures are wonderful, they don't show fossils and bones, they show what scientists believe the animals actually looked like. It's really fascinating, even as an adult to look at those pictures and wonder what it would be like to see those animals at the zoo or in my back yard. I highly recommend this book for any child or adult interested in animals!

Use this as a springboard for your intermediate students!,

Many alphabet books are too young for those middle grade students who think alphabet books are silly! This book is excellent because it will teach them some things they don't know and it doesn't talk down to them at all! I use it to illustrate how alphabet books can enhance their social studies and science curriculum. We make a big book in 4th grade of California history terms a-z! We also use it to demonstrate new adjectives we've learned... an a-z book complete with illustrations! Using this book as a springboard, the ideas are limited only by your kids' imaginations!!

My most favorite part of the book was the hidden messages. One animal in the book wasn't extinct. The great shark wasn't shown but its tooth was shown.

My favorite parts of The Extinct Alphabet Book were how it showed the hidden words and pictures in the pages. The animal I liked the most was the gigantic turtle. I thought it looked fascinating because its shell looks like bubbles or pebbles to blend it in with its environment the way Ralph Masiello drew it, and because I love drawing, too!

A fun, fun book,

This is a book with a difference. Learning the alphabet needs to be fun, and this book is fun. Looking at various creatures that have become extinct over the years, it takes the child (and even adults) through the alphabet in a delightfully colorful way. The pictures are bright and well drawn, the text quirky and humorous but always informative and it is a sure-fire way for the older child to remember the alphabet whilst at the same time learning about creatures that no longer roam this planet. A fun and educational book in one, what more more can you ask for?

Excellent Book That Brings Back Memories,

This review is from: The Extinct Alphabet Book (Jerry Pallotta's Alphabet Books) (Paperback)
When I was the tender old age of 10, Jerry Pallotta visited our school and spoke to us on the merits of reading, and read to us this book. I still have my signed copy, that has become my niece and nephews favorite when they visit. They love finding "Jerry" hidden in the pages, and the words in the bushes.
This book brings back such fond memories, and now creates new ones with a new generation. These books should be a staple in ny Parent, Teachers, or Caregivers library.

This book was great. I loved the illustrations. I also liked the hidden pictures. I found Jerry Palotto in this book. I really like how Ralph Masiello and Jerry Palotto didn`t put any dinosaurs in this book.
