As always, Gordon West presents the exam material in a fun manner that makes learning much more enjoyable. I've used his books along with online practtice exams to obtain my Tech and General class tickets. I was able to ace the General class exam (didn't miss any) without any trouble.

Use Gordo's advice presented in his books along with online practice exams and you'll have no problem at all passing the real exams.

The book is well organized and does a good job covering many aspects needed for an understanding of the material and not just the answers; however, some topics were not covered leaving the reader to use other references to understand the subject matter. In comparison, the ARRL Extra Class study manual goes real deep on many, if not all, subject matter; becoming somewhat less of a study guide and taking more time to navigate the questions. I'm satisfied with this book and would buy it again if I had to do it over again. I can appreciate the ARRL book, it is definitely more detailed. I'd say that between the two books the decision is based on how long you want to take to study for your Extra Class exam. For the "one month or less" study guide/review approach, this book (Gordon West) is perfect.

I've used the Gordon West prep books and audio cds to pass my Technician, General and just yesterday my Extra class license exam. The organization of the material, a little in depth description as well as the tricks to help remember some of the answers allowed me to pass all tests with flying colors!

If you're having trouble comprehending any of the material, want additional reinforcement as you go through the book, or learn better hearing vs reading, I'd suggest also purchasing the audio CDs. The audio CDs follow the exact structure of the book. I listened to them many times as I commuted to work and you become very familiar with the questions and answers to the point where you hear the question, you can say the answer. The audio CDs also offer additional hints on remembering some of the answers and verbal explanations on solving the math problems in the Extra exam. "Gordo" is very enthusiastic on the audio tapes and makes learning the material pretty painless.

It's nice to walk into the exam sessions feeling confident that you know the material and will have no problem passing the test.

Gordo makes it fun to pursue your extra class ticket. I was able to obtain my technician and general class licenses after four weeks of part time studying and listening to Gordo's audio CDs during my commute. Highly recommended.

I have always been a fan of Gordon West's study guides. Lots of helpful hints and ways to learn the material. The only reason I didn't rate this book 5 stars was because some of the theories and facts presented were done so with very little background explanation. For example, with some of the math problems, the specific answers on the test were solved, but the theory on how to solve other similar problems was not expounded on enough to "get it." In the earlier study guides, I felt like Gordon explained the math and science enough that I could walk away remembering the formulas, which is ultimately the point, right? :)

Summing up, I think this is the BEST Extra study guide on the market. It's much better than the alternatives!!

Book arrived on time. It is a short version without all of the details in the ARRL books. Much easier to learn from.

I used the Gordon West General Class Audio Theory & the Gordon West General Class Book to upgrade from Tech to General.
That program was great and I passed with flying colors in just one month of on and off studying. So here I am studying
for my Extra Class doing the same. I highly recommend both the Audio course and the book if you want a complete study
program. The book gives explanation to each question, and the audio course is great for studying while commuting to and
from work, or rip to MP3's and put them on your IPOD. I rate Gordon West the highest rating. He is easy to read, easy
to listen to and he goes nice and slow so you can comprehend the information. There's a lot of free stuff online to
study from, and I used all those, but these are by far the best. Good luck and 73's!

This book is absolutely excellent. No problems in studying with this book to further your education and getting your Extra Class license. Gordon West is a very good teacher, whether in the classroom or just studying his books. You can't miss with Gordo.

This is a good book to read in order to get your Extra Class HAM radio license. It has all the questions on the test with an explanation of the correct answer. It is broken up into sections which relate to each other, which helps to study the material. There is an index in the back, so you can find the question you are looking for when you take the online practice test.
