I have no trouble taking these through airport security. I've used them on six different trips - never a problem with security. I keep my medicial pen inside the small carring case that came with the pen, with one gel pack on each side. I state that I have a medical devise as I approach security, they send me to a special screening line (which so far has been an express line). I put my case in the bin next to my shoes and zero problems. They keep cold for several hours. Kept my medicine cold on cross-country flights without any problems.

These are NOT soft gel when they freeze. Also, they are very small. Both of them can fit in a coffee cup. For 99 cents, you can get one that is bigger and better at Target or Wal-Mart.

Tendonitis in my elbows lead me to a summer of ultra sound two days a week. I was instructed to ice my elbows twice daily and to use real ice and not gel pack ice. Gel pack ice wasn't cold enough and real ice would penetrate deeper and more quickly into the tissue. These little ice packs did the job effectively. The only trouble is their repeated use durability; eventually a pinhole leak in each caused me to abandon them. Otherwise, they are exactly what the doctor ordered.

I tryed these for carring my insulin around with me so if i have a problem its cold and ready to use. This is not the 1st kind i used and it worked just as well it was alittle bit cheaper that is why i bought it,and i always buy a 2 pack so when 1 dies i have another one untill i can order some new ones. Now i'm sure you are asking yourself how did it get broke well sometimes i open the zipper to fast and it will pinch the bag and thats all it takes and the blue stuff inside will come running out!

I use three of these for keeping my lunch cool, when I'm traveling on an airplane. They go through US airport security with no trouble. I put them into a quart size ziplock bag inside the lunchbox, and just pull it out for airport security screening. (Before I bought these little ice packs, TSA took away a larger ice pack I had, and told me I should use loose ice from one of the restaurants past security -- which would have melted and made my sandwich soggy!)
