Editorial Reviews

Review

“Through his thorough analysis of ‘extra-planetary experiences,’ Thomas Streicher successfully prepares the ground for deeper questioning: Are they merely significant as subjective experiences, or are they also objectively real? This book shows that we should not dismiss these experiential reports.” (Jürgen W. Kremer, Ph.D., executive editor of ReVision: Journal of Consciousness and Transformat)

“Employing academic scholarship, detailed documentation, human curiosity, and humane compassion, Thomas Streicher provides the results of his investigations of persons who describe their encounters with extraterrestrials and their experiences on other planetary civilizations.” (R. Leo Sprinkle, Ph.D., counseling psychologist and professor emeritus at the University of Wyoming)

UFOS / SPIRITUALITY

“Thomas Streicher breaks new ground in investigating the chronically controversial topic of alien-human contact.”
--Dean Radin, Ph.D., senior scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences

Since prehistoric times all cultures report encounters with strange beings and crafts from the sky as well as stories of extra-planetary experiences--that is, travel to other planets, moons, and stars. In the case of modern accounts, these benevolent alien-human interactions bear striking resemblance to one another, even among people with no knowledge of other alien-human claims. And all experiences marked a spiritual turning point in the person’s life, providing a loss of the fear of death, enhanced spiritual insights, a connection to cosmic consciousness, or increased motivation to be of service to humanity.

Exploring fresh dimensions of ET contact and extra-planetary experience (XPE) using Harvard professor and researcher John Mack’s witnessing approach to paranormal incidents, Thomas Streicher interviews 7 renowned people who have experienced XPE--including astronaut Edgar Mitchell, Norma Milanovich, and Stanford-tested remote viewer Ingo Swann--and shares the positive spiritual effects of XPE on their lives. Placing their experiences in the context of historical accounts of alien-human encounters from ancient Sumerian, Vedic, Egyptian, Tibetan, Hopi, Dogon, and biblical records as well as 19th- and 20th-century testimonies from Orfeo Angelucci, Billy Meier, Elizabeth Klarer, and others, the author reveals the similarities of these experiences with those of his interviewees. Streicher shows these experiences are not contrived hallucinations but genuine transformative spiritual awakenings akin to near-death and out-of-body experiences.

THOMAS JAMES STREICHER, Ph.D., a student of John Edward Mack, M.D., earned his doctorate in psychology from Saybrook University. The founder and director of Divine Spark, a non-profit dedicated to helping people through free meals and other means to activate the divine spark within each of them, he lives in Nevada City, California.

This book is a great introduction to the subject of people who claim extraterrestrial contact not of the alien abduction kind, but of an open reciprocal relationship with beings from another planet. I went into reading this as a novice not really knowing much about these experiences, although I have extensively studied NDE's and Alien Abduction reports. Before I figured most people who were claiming open, friendly, ongoing contact with ET's who would take them on trips to the Pleiades and give them advanced knowledge to be just making it up for whatever reason. It sounds like great science fiction to me. But this book is a real eye opener to see just how consistent these accounts are. Of course they describe going to different planets with different characteristics. The aliens may be bluish in color, or have a body of light and change form. Sometimes they experience higher dimensional beings as opposed to physical beings. But one remarkable consistency for me was the utopian vision of the alien worlds. Not one of the experiencers talked about warring aliens or any negativity coming from them. All described alien civilizations that live in harmony with their environment and each other without war, hate, or even money. Another consistency is the way in which they look at humanity as needing to evolve and end war. They say if we are to join with other races and evolve, we have to start eliminating our aggressive tendencies. The experiencers come back with the knowledge that everything and all beings are connected.

There are two accounts in the book that are much different than the rest, those being Edgar Mitchell and Ingo Swann. Mitchell went to the moon on an apollo mission and didn't see or interact with any alien beings.

This book was a great disappointment to me. In the first section, there was discussion of alien abduction phenomena with 11 theories that explain it away and no mention of rock solid cases like Travis Walton and the million to one odds against faking the polygraph tests. Then some previous contactees, including Billy Meier, who has faked photos: which have hose clamps visible on the models, not to mention models were found at his residence, and also beam ship recordings which are obviously synthesizer. If you like Billy, perhaps this book is for you.

Then in the interview session we start with Edgar Mitchell, an Apollo astronaut who walked on the moon and a very intelligent man. T. J. Streicher asked questions which seemed either ignorant, misleading, or hoping that some revelation would proceed, 'When you were on the moon, did you see any signs of civilization or signs of life?' Edgar Mitchell's final few comments were the only things noteworthy in the entire book, but they seemed a gift from Edgar, more than an outcome of the interview. The next encounters were either remote viewing, fantasy, and even a past life as an alien on a distant planet. When a witness states they went to the PLANET Alpha Centauri and saw a big red star, there was no question about Alpha Centauri the binary star that is Sol's neighbor. When someone lived a past life on an immensely huge planet, where everything was wonderful, there was no question of gravity precluding a humanoid form.

In the conclusion section, the witnesses were all applauded for caring about humanity and having been sent here to teach us the way. Too much "... Jivin' with that Cosmik Debris..." for me.

This is a well researched and documented book by a world class scholar. The author thinks this may cause a lot of consternation and rethinking of religion. Personally, I disagree. As a practicing Christian for 60+ years, it only shows me that my God is even bigger than I had emagined. Facinating reading.

I liked the accounts of EPEs, but the book read more like a educational text rather than a novel. I thought this book was just okay.
