5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, February 22, 2004

Believer is a Christian thrash metal band (not death metal as the previous reviewer below wrote). This was their first album, I believe (and best). No one sounds like them and no one ever will. Great thrash with a Christian message (even though I don't care about that) and a great roughly-melodic sound. I love the title track, Unity, Shadow of Death (the best). All songs are great though.

Check out Sanity Obscure, their second album, which was more creative and diverse, but perhaps less melodic overall, and not as technical (if thrash can be considered technical.

Great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars An awesome Debut, but its not as good as Dimensions, February 28, 2006
NOTE: NOT TO BASH ONE OF THE REVIEWERS, BUT THIS IS NOT DEATH METAL. IT'S THRASH.

I basically just said it all. Extraction From Mortality is an awesome Thrash Metal album by the Christian band Believer. It's not their best. It seems to me that their albums just get better as they release them. Extraction From Mortality is more of an album you listen to just merely for entertainment as opposed to art. This is album is some-what technical as compared to their later stuff which is EXTREMELY technical with their complex riffs and odd time signatures. However, this album has my number 1 favorite song of Believer and could possibly be in my top 10 all time favorite songs. The song is called Shadow Of Death, which is also the very first song of believer that I have heard.

What is awesome about this album however is the production and the great crunch used in the guitars. Unfortunately, Kurt Bachman's vocals are a little annoying because they sometimes drag and they are not so aggressive. Still I love this album, but it's NOT my favorite Believer album. My favorite is still Dimensions.

This review is from: Extraction from Morality (Audio CD)
The person I purchased this for was totally wowed by it. He has been hooked on Heavy Metal for years. I told him that there was Christian Heavy Metal that would be the sound and rhythm he was looking for. I have purchased several cd's and other music from other groups that are on the same line. He tells me that he "Rocks out" to them all. Thanks for having these selections for me to purchase for him. A witness is a witness no matter how it works. Thanks again. You all are the only place I have found any "Believer" cd's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thrash at its Best, April 6, 2006
This album is one of the best thrash metal albums I have ever heard amongst both Christian and secular artists. It is a five star album in this genre, not of albums in general. The crunching guitars and quick timing changes are on a standard that few other bands ever acheive, let alone on a rookie release. They're talent only gets better in their next two releases, but they also lose some of the raw crunch of Extraction from Mortality. They sound like they have beem heavily influenced by German thrash bands like Destruction and Sodom.

5.0 out of 5 stars The definitive death metal album!, February 27, 2003
Extraction... is simply as good as death metal gets. The pace is full on, the vocals soaring, the drums hypnotic, and the guitar riffs take the skin off your face! There is attention to detail too, notably the introductions to songs like the string quartet before the title track hits you, and the organ intro to the opening song. ... One word of warning, don't buy any other Believer albums expecting the same standard coz after this stunning album they disappeared up their own .........
