Although Wiemar draws on her Jewish background, she writes about God without denominational reference and teaches workshops on connecting with spiritual guides to people of all faiths. By "spiritual guides," she means spiritual beings outside the self who teach about God's unconditional love. Wiemar doesn't make it clear how they differ from angels. Prayer is singled out as an important preparation for making contact with spiritual guides. Wiemar's approach is practical, outlining step-by-step techniques for communication that vary depending on whether seekers prefer visual, auditory, or kinesthetic contact. Although the author doesn't adequately address concerns such as unconscious self-projection or the problems of receiving negative guidance, this is nevertheless a topic in current demand.

Extraordinary Guidance, written by Liza M. Wiemer, is a practical, down-to-earth manual on learning to connect with your spiritual guides. A gift previously attributed to psychics, oracles and mystics is available to anyone who makes conscious choices in their lives and would appreciate a bit of help and to feel confident that they're making the right ones.

Ms. Wiemer writes in a clear, straightforward style that conveys the warmth of encouragement and the assurance of a confident teacher. In fact, Ms. Wiemer has been a religous school teacher for fourteen years. Far from a cloistered mystic, she and her husband are raising two small children and, as Ms. Wiemer writes, I am a hopeless romantic and a die-hard Packers fan.

To me, Extraordinary Guidance contains two very powerful ideas. The first is that there is really no need for people to suffer, especially when help is so immediate and so close. We're informed that our spiritual guides are doing everything pos! sible to help us make good choices, reduce our suffering and increase our joy. The question of whether we can learn to listen is answered with a definitive and resounding YES!

The second powerful idea is that direct spiritual guidance is available to everyone. One need not belong to this or that religion, or be good at meditation or achieve a certain level of yoga or anything of the kind. The truth is that our spiritual guides already communicate with us through intuition and would love it if we tuned in to receive even more specific guidance to help ourselves and others.

In contrast to many other spiritual primers, Ms. Wiemer's writing voice is refreshing and immediately understandable. If while reading this book you get the feeling you're having a conversation with a good friend and not a distant guru it's no mistake; you are. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to change or improve their life and realize their life's purpose.

It's an important book.

This is a great little book. It shows step by step how to contact and have a relationship with our Spirit Guides. Instead of employing all the mumbo-jumbo from other teachers, Liza is direct and to the point. If you are seeking a PERSONAL relationship with the Divine, want to DEVELOP to your full potential, and be LIVING WITH TRUE PURPOSE, this book is for you. It speaks to anyone of any religious or spiritual beliefs. I have read so many books on the subject and this is one of the best by far. I have to admit, I checked it out of my local library first, but now I have purchased it for myself. I sent an email to the author, and she emailed me back the same day. She also offered quick insight into myself, and was right on. Has helped me to let go of my "issue." I can't think of a better book on the subject, or a better author/teacher to support.

I had an incredible phone call tonight from the author, she had not received the e-mails I had sent and she called me directly. I re-read the book and she further enlightened me about what I was doing incorrectly in trying to use her excersices in the book. She was great, she even gave me further insight, in that most people will try and focus on a question and then will not truly listen to what the answer is, they will think they have done it themselves, instead of realizing that guides are all around us all the time.
