wonderful printing of timeless stories, June 22, 2011
This review is from: The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes (Puffin Classics) (Paperback)
first, allow me to say that i am quite enjoying these puffin classics editions of some of my favorite novels!
this book is a great introduction to holmes, watson, and of course, that atmospheric london fog (which apparently doesn't really exist as we believe it does). the following stories are included in this collection:
the adventure of the speckled band
the adventure of the blue carbuncle
the musgrave ritual
the reigate puzzle
silver blaze
the adventure of the dancing men
the adventure of the six napoleons
the missing three-quarter
a bonus here with the puffin classics is the addition of backstory included at the end of the book. here you can learn more about the author, the stories, the characters, and so much more. what a delightful thing to include!
i have purchased most of these puffin classics editions, and will certainly look for future additions to add to my collection.

Eight select adventures in a light-weight package, July 4, 2011
This review is from: The Extraordinary Cases of Sherlock Holmes (Puffin Classics) (Paperback)
This book is among my favorite Puffin Classics series. For one, I enjoy reading detective stories like Sherlock Holmes, and the eight select cases are chosen wisely to represent various landscape of England--from London's foggy streets to ranch and countryside. Some well-known cases such as 'The Speckled Band' and 'The Reigate Puzzle' are included in this book.
The eight classic adventures featured in this book are:
The Adventure of the Speckled Band
The Adventure of the Blue Carbuncle
The Musgrave Ritual
The Reigate Puzzle
Silver Blaze
The Adventure of the Dancing Men
The Adventure of the Six Napoleons
The Missing Three-Quarter
And just as in other Puffin Classics books, the adventure doesn't stop at the last page of the story. Following the final chapter in the book is a supplementary reading about the author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, as well as the characters in his literature. There are some interesting facts covering places and landmarks mentioned in the story, as well as short glossary to enrich your vocabulary.
With eight adventures to follow in any order and a light-weight package, this book makes a perfect travel companion for that long train journey or the daily commute.
