In this book I will be talking about ESP--which really means Extraordinary Spiritual Potential. This implies that the poten¬tial for extraordinary spiritual develop¬ment exists within all of us; it is simply a question of developing it, as you would a muscle. As you watch TV you will often see men with he-man dimen¬sions. Anyone can develop this type of weight-lifting body if he so desires; it is merely a question of his finding it meaningful in his life. In the same way, anyone is capable of developing his or her spiritual muscles. It is just a matter of your finding why it is meaningful to do so.

The techniques utilized in this text will aid in increasing your intuition. ESP and intuition have a great deal to do with your psychic development. Psychic development is based upon various occult techniques that allow you to focus your mind and attune it, and at the same time release the balanced energies from the subconscious mind. These balanced energies are called intuitional forces.

I always like to ask business executives and success¬ful people to what they attribute their extraordinary success. Without fail, every one of them has said: "It is because of my intuition. After I get done with all my logical thinking, and analyze all my data, I sit down and simply feel intuitively what needs to be done next. Sometimes this goes against my logic and data, but I follow it."

These people may have ten thousand pieces of logical data that say to go in one direction, but their intuition negates this data and tells them to do something entirely different. They attribute their success to sensitivity to this intuitional element.

What is success? Success means attaining your goals, developing your potentials, and moving upward and onward to higher goals. Like everything else, however, it is a sequential process. This is also true of success in ESP development. It necessitates a step-by-step method. We will be talking about this method in the following chapters.

Developing your ESP means developing a sensitivity in your life on every level, even in the everyday world. Thus we will also be talking about concepts of everyday life. You may feel these concepts have nothing to do with psychic development, but they are fundamental to this process. If you cannot develop and utilize the sensitivity of your soul in what we would call the everyday world, you will find it difficult to develop that sensitivity in the subtler, astral realms, and much more so in the celestial realms. In this book, you will be learning some techniques that will aid you to develop this sensitivity.

If used unselfishly, these psychic forces will bring about spiritual unfoldment! Obviously, the sensitivity to these psychic forces is spiritual. This is an important point to make, because there are people who still believe that anything other than masculine logic involves negative forces, and has nothing to do with being spiritual. This is certainly not true.

Some people feel if God wanted us to go to the moon, we would have been born with a skyrocket as part of our spinal column. They feel if God wanted us to smoke, we would have been born with a hole in our throat; if He wanted us to drive, we would have been born with wheels instead of feet; and in the same way, if God wanted us to have ESP, we would have been born with it; it would be automatic and would not have to be developed. The answer to this is, we did have it but we lost it, and now we simply have to redevelop it.

Although I use the word extraordinary in the phrase extraordinary spiritual potential, in actuality, it is not extraordinary for it is the birthright of every human being. I refer to it as extraordinary, because the unfoldment of the astral realm, psychic realm, and the spiritual realm is always extraordinary to the average human being. Despite how much you know or how much you feel you have grasped of the other side, after a week or month of developing your ESP, you will enter another area of life, finding the entire patterning to be extraordinary.

And finally, a word about the occult. The word occult means hidden from the average person. The occult refers to the spiritual truths of life that are hidden from most people because of their unawareness caused by their emotions, desires, and cravings. The occult is not negative. This is very important to understand. The occult involves hidden energies that manifest the changes in this physical world. Occultism is the study of certain techniques that will enable you to become aware of these subtle energies. As you become aware of these subtle energies, you can then control them and use them in a positive, constructive way.

Psychic energies, like all of the other natural forces of life, are always available to humanity. It is simply a matter of becoming aware and harnessing them. It is through the awareness and the balancing of these subtle, psychic energies that enlighten-ment is possible.

This text is an attempt to explore, understand, and harness the psychic energies which lie dormant within all of us. It is important to realize that they can be used for the betterment of those around you, as well as for your own spiritual unfoldment.

With this brief introduction, I will now begin the study of ESP and how to transform these occult energies into spiritual unfoldment.
