Vest looked good, fit well but, pockets are way too small for saltwater fly box. leader wallet and other gear I normally carry.

I bought this pfd for my son, he is 13 years old, 5' 4" tall & 110 lbs, thin build. He says the pfd is comfortable, he has full range of motion in his arms & shoulders, the jacket does not make him hot & all the pockets are really cool.

Once I got the correct size, as my first one ordered was a large/extra large instead of the one I kept which is a XX/XXX size, It is great. I think they run small as a friend of mine who already has a PDF from another brand and he felt his which is a medium size said the large/extra large felt OK on him.So they run small. Other wise a good product

I have to say that I was rather reluctant to spend $80+ on a PFD. This jacket is worth it. I was very impressed with the build quality right out of the package. The materials are sturdy, the zippers are heavy-duty, and a lot of detail is paid to the little things.
The good: - Quality construction - Fits great - I'm 6'3" with a 56" chest. I often have trouble finding stuff that fits well, but this vest fits wonderfully. I was concerned that the XXL size wouldn't be big enough, but I've got some room to cinch down the straps. The chest strap tightens nicely and makes the PFD feel very secure. The shoulder straps make it feel like it was custom tailored for me. - Lots of pockets and attachment points - I was pleasantly surprised to find an additional D-ring in each of the larger pockets. - Unobtrusive on the water - I paddled for about two hours today. It was about 83 and sunny. The jacket is pretty airy and comfortable. I wasn't getting overheated at all. Even better is I never noticed the jacket interfering with my paddling. The bad: I'm being a bit picky here. - The small pockets are a bit small. I'm sure I'll find something to put in them, but I was unable to velcro the small pocket when I put my multitool (SOG PowerLock) in it. A knife or a whistle should fit fine, but I'd rather see the two small pockets on each side combined into one larger pocket. - The shoulder strap adjusters are a bit difficult to reach. On me, they fall into that awkward location that you can't reach with the opposite side arm and you need an extra joint in the same side arm to reach it easily. |
